Cheeseboro Canyon {Local Trails}

My husband and I were looking for a new trail to hike with our dog Matix.  We decided to visit Cheeseboro/Palo Comado Canyon  in Old Agoura.  First off, this area of the 805 is so gorgeous! So many sprawling ranch homes with horses and hundreds of oak trees line the streets and hills.  My husband and I spent a few minutes driving around the neighborhood picking out our dream homes before parking at the entrance off of Cheseboro Road.

Once again– as most trails in this area are– Cheeseboro Canyon is great for a trail run, hike, mountain bike ride, or horseback ride.  We saw so many people along the trail and everyone was super friendly (we were even warned to watch out for a rattlesnake seen by the picnic area…yikes!!).

There are quite a few different trails you can take in Cheeseboro Canyon.  The hikes vary from a little under a mile to 4.6 miles and from easy to strenuous (we decided to stick to the shorter moderate hike on Modelo Spur trail since I’m over 5 months pregnant – I think that’s fair! 😉

For more info, you can check out their website for a full list and map of each trail within the canyon.  We definitely want to try the Simi Peak Trail next, which takes you the the highest point in the area with spectacular views of Oak Park, Agoura Hills and Simi Valley!

Of course, after our hike we needed a little sweet treat (and I was having yet another frozen yogurt pregnancy craving), so we headed over to Sweet XO in Agoura Hills off Kanan to enjoy some delicious frozen yogurt.  Besides, we had just burned a few calories right? 🙂
