Father’s Day Recap: Biking in Ventura

Hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing Father’s Day weekend 🙂 It was Brett’s first Father’s Day as a new “dada” (as Graham calls him… ok he calls me that too sometimes, haha!), so I decided to take our little family north to Ventura for the day!

We loaded up our bikes and lathered on the sunscreen because hellooo did you see how beautiful it was yesterday?! There’s a free parking lot at the far end of Main Street, right near Hwy 33, which leads directly into the mouth of the Ventura Beach Bike Trail.

[side note: just another reason I love Ventura — there are tons of free parking lots!]

Graham got to try out his new bike helmet and bike seat, which we put on Brett’s bike because I clearly have issues safely riding anything with two wheels.  The ride was absolutely gorgeous!

The Ventura Beach Bike Trail goes along the Ventura River and then meets the Pacific, where you ride past a beautiful bird estuary.  Next, we rode past the Ventura County Fairgrounds and then along C-Street, also known as Surfer’s Point.  It was fun to stop and watch the surfers on our way home, and we saw many camper vans pulled up along the trail having picnics and BBQs — such a good idea!

The trail then passes along the promenade, and then comes upon the Ventura pier, where we obviously stopped for lunch because I’m always hungry.

We loved Beach House Fish (used to be Eric Ericsson’s) — the line for the outdoor taco stand was really long, and we wanted to get out of the sun for a bit, so we opted for beers and lunch in the restaurant.  The view was gorgeous, and the food was great!

Hopped back on the bikes, rode a couple blocks up to Main Street, and just strolled along the stores — there are so many great places to shop and eat!  And of course we love Iron & Resin, so had to make a stop.

We ended the day with a stop by Topa Topa Brewing Company, which didn’t disappoint.  It was a bit crowded, but some super sweet ladies gave up their table for us and we had a couple of pints while Graham took his nap on his dad’s shoulder 🙂
