Five Faves: Things to do for Valentine’s Day

We know that not everyone is the red-roses-and-box-of-chocolates type of person — good thing there are tons of different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day!  Here are a few of our personal faves:

1. For the Adventurous:

  • RUNdezvous 5k Fun Run // win prizes, such as massages, dinner gift certificates, chocolates, and more, while having fun (+ getting a workout!) with your significant other!
  • Malibu Country Mart Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt // follow the clues for your chance to win $4k in jewelry, prizes, and gift cards hidden around the MCM! This is a great way to work together with your partner, and score some sweet gifts! #winwin
  • Take a hike // Get some scenic views with a sunset hike (or some waterfalls now that we got rain!) at some of our favorite places, like Solstice Canyon, Lizard Rock, or Hill Canyon!wildwood hike

2. For the Last-Minute Planners:

  • Picnic in the park // Grab one of these adorable picnic baskets from Grill on the Alley [or make your own picnic with ready-made food from Vintage Grocers!] and head to a park, take a hike, or set up an indoor picnic if the weather isn’t cooperating 😉

3. For the Classy Couple:

  • Saddle Peak Lodge // Nestled in Malibu Canyon, this cabin-y feel will give you all the warm fuzzy feelings in a picturesque setting.  While pricey, there is a great prix-fixe menu for $35 Monday – Thursday, as well as a nice bar menu that won’t break the bank
  • The Lark // Another Santa Barbara gem for fine dining [must try the bone marrow!], grab your resos, like, yesterday.
  • Les Marchands Wine Bar + Merchant // One of Santa Barbara’s cutest wine bars is hosting five days of Valentine’s day dining — warning: this menu is ridiculously mouthwatering!

4. For the Girls’ Night Out:

  • Pinot’s Palette // Nothing says GNO like a paint + wine night!  Gal-entine’s Day is February 15th, so grab your ladies and head to this special event!

  • Santa Barbara Wine Collective // Speaking of wine… SBWC is offering a special chocolate + wine pairing, as well as specialty curated wine tasting flights, from now until Valentine’s day!  Wine tasting is great with your S.O., but it’s even more fun with your girls.  Plus, shopping at State Street is only a short stroll away 😉

5. For the Homebodies:

Hey, you do you — there’s nothing wrong with ordering takeout, putting on your most trusted lounge-y pants, and bingeing on Netflix.  Also, did you know that it’s Girl Scout Cookie season? …Coincidence? I think NOT.

Happy Valentine’s/Gal-entine’s/Singles’ Awareness Day/excuse to eat heart-shaped treats day!
