Now that spring is in full swing and Nicole and her husband just went to Santa Barbara for their anniversary trip, I am dreaming about my own little beach town getaway. Last year Mark (my husband) and I made a quick trip to Summerland, a cute little coastal town right off the 101 between Carpinteria and Montecito. This town is home to some of the cutest boutique stores, yummy restaurants, antique shops and they even have a wine tasting room!
We got there early in the morning just in time for a delicious breakfast at Summerland Beach Cafe. We love this local spot because they have a great outdoor patio that’s dog friendly and their food is just so good! We sat outside on the patio with our dog and enjoyed a long breakfast before walking around the town.
I found the most adorable baby and toddler shop called Amelia Jane that made me want to buy pretty much everything in it (and I don’t even have kids of my own yet)! Seriously you must visit this store the next time you are in Summerland– it will give you baby fever like whoa. The woman working that day told me they also owned the store next door called Botanik, so I of course had to go there as well. Botanik is a garden and home store with some of the most wonderful smelling candles and amazing home and garden decor. Definitely recommend checking that store out too when you’re in town.
As I mentioned earlier, Summerland is also home to the Summerland Wines Tasting Room. Unfortunately it wasn’t open when we were there, but I’ve been there several times before and the wine is delicious. The tasting room is super cute (which seems to be the theme in Summerland) and they also have a patio that you can sit on while drinking a glass of … Sauvignon Blanc. Mmmm!
After walking around town, we headed down to the beach which allows dogs on leashes! Matix had a great time running around in the sand and water 🙂 It was such a beautiful day out, and there were several others with their dogs enjoying the beach that morning.
We stayed for a few hours, but will definitely be back. Maybe next time we’ll stay at the Inn on Summer Hill, the local bed and breakfast!
Have you been to Summerland? What’s your fave thing(s) about it?
