Malibu Cafe at Calamigos Ranch, Pt. 1 {Local Eats & Venue}

So I may have a soft spot for Calamigos Ranch [my husband and I got married there in October 2012], but it really is a magical place – perfect for any occasion.

Malibu Cafe offers a plethora of seating and games on their huge lawn, making it super dog- and kid-friendly too (so don’t be afraid to bring those little ones with you – they’re more than welcome here and they’ll love it!).

You can spend the day or evening at Malibu Cafe, enjoying food made from the freshest ingredients and playing games such as corn hole, pool, life size chess, ping-pong and more.

Calamigos Ranch also recently opened their own lifestyle boutique, Otte, which is located behind the umbrellas at Malibu Cafe. The boutique is a must-see, and even if it’s not within your budget (like us… but one can dream right!?), the interior is just as adorable as you’d imagine!

Malibu Cafe hosts a ton of events, both open to the community (like Oktoberfest) and private (we’ll be sharing more on the Baby Shower we hosted soon!).

The other evening we enjoyed dinner on the deck at Malibu Cafe. The lighting is so beautiful and the rustic surroundings make it feel as if you’re tucked away in the woods.  The food was absolutely amazing too – the epitome of how I’d imagine true modern country food. I say “true” because Calamigos Ranch, which is family-owned still to this day by the Gerson family, lives by the cowboy lifestyle motto of living off the land and specializes in fusion country cuisine, which they’ve coined Nouveau Barbeque, made from the freshest ingredients.

I mean, they even created their very own signature Calamigos Barbecue Sauce years and years ago — and since then, created menus full of signature items.

Their unique menus offer Lunch, Dinner and Dessert (Tuesdays – Sundays) as well as an extensive Wine & Drink list full of specialty cocktails (our favorites, among many, are the Passion Fruit Mojito and Moscow Mule).  On Sundays they offer an insanely delicious Brunch menu from 10 – 2:30pm and serve Dinner from 3-9pm.

Malibu Cafe is a must visit for all the above stated reasons and more – so check your calendar and tell all your friends!

{PS if you plan to go for brunch, we highly recommend making a reservation in advance as it can get packed for obvious reasons. #worthit}
