It can be easy to get in a rut when it comes to date night. We can easily find ourselves going to the same restaurant or seeing yet another movie, because that’s what we’ve always done and it doesn’t take much thought or planning.
But we challenge you to change that this weekend. We are lucky enough to have the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks — one of the largest performing arts centers between Los Angeles and San Francisco. There are more than 400 performances annually, including Broadway musicals, dance companies, popular entertainers, concerts, and more!
Which brings us to your new perfect date night for this weekend. Instead of heading out for your usual go-to date, make your way on over to The Lakes for dinner and drinks (may we suggest Sabor? one of our faves!) and then catch one of the nine performances of the musical Sister Act, opening this Friday night, April 21st, and running through Sunday, April 30th at the Civic Arts Plaza.
Sister Act features original music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken and is a tribute to the universal power of friendship, filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story. You know you loved the Whoopi Goldberg movie version, so why not see it live?!
And in case you didn’t know, Cabrillo Music Theatre is the Ovation Award-winning resident professional theater production company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and a nonprofit theater organization. A couple of years ago we saw their performance of Mary Poppins, which was a hit with my family!
