So, remember when we did that amazing Mommy Meet Up at The Promenade at Westlake in collaboration with Vintage Grocers and The Arterie Studio? I know it was back in April, and I’m just now getting around to writing the blog post, but… #momlife.
For those who are moms, we know how exhausting the day-to-day can be, and how necessary it is to have the support of other moms — not only for our own sanity, but also to know that we’re not alone in this journey. Motherhood can be isolating at times, and it’s …
I’m sure many of you have driven by the Santa Barbara Polo Club just north of Carpinteria, but have never stopped – thinking it either wasn’t open to the public or too expensive to attend, just like I originally thought. Well, turns out we’re all wrong. And guys, attending a polo match is SO MUCH fun, especially on a beautiful sunny day in the 805! Not to mention, it’s such a good excuse to dress up (and wear that big hat in true polo fashion).
My husband and I were lucky enough to sneak away, sans kids, for a little day date and we wanted to …
Hi there! I’m Lelaina,
My love for art started when I was just five years old! Growing up I watched my mother paint and once I was old enough she started giving me canvases to make my own creations on (and let me tell you there are stacks and stacks of those creations!). Throughout my childhood I knew I loved art, but I hadn’t found that one technique that REALLY captured my heart. Then I discovered resin art and let me tell you, I became OBSESSED! My main love for resin art is that it takes two minds to create a piece. My mind AND …
…talk about killing two birds with one stone!

Not to sound too basic, but…
we LOVE brunch.
Like, borderline obsessed. And what’s not to love? Delicious, insta-worthy food. Acceptable day drinking, in public. Catching up with good friends. Beautiful, outdoor patios [our favorite, and — thanks to the 805 — it’s almost always patio-sitting weather :)]!
Today we’re sharing some of our fave brunch spots in the 805. But friends, this is a two-way street — so if you have a fave brunch spot or two that we haven’t listed, please share in the comments below 🙂
S A N T A B A R B A R …
Big dinners and holiday parties is one of the reasons why I love this time of year. But we all know hosting friends and family can also be super stressful. Last year Mark and I hosted Thanksgiving at our new house and I definitely was stressed. We had just moved into our new home, had a new baby, and were hosting family from out of town. I was having major mom brain/sleep deprivation thanks ot my adorable 2 month old, so I had a vision of what I wanted to do, but no real plan.
And when I started laying out my generic plan of …
So I am by no means a great cook, but one thing I can make is butternut squash soup. And I only say this because my husband told me so:) Thanks to Pinterest (yes, I actually made something that I found on Pinterest!) I found this delicious recipe for butternut squash soup complete with bacon… because as we all know, bacon makes everything taste better. Duh.
This recipe is from good old Martha Stewart, so you know it’s amazing and — believe me — it is pretty easy to make! I have a new baby so I’m not spending …
Spring time means longer days, beautiful flowers, sitting on porches and eating farm fresh foods. Don’t you agree!?
And luck for all of us, the Conejo Valley and surrounding 805 area are home to an abundance of farmers markets. We didn’t even realize how many there really were until we started researching – which just adds to the ever-growing reasons of why we love living in the 805. We’re so fortunate to have access to numerous farms who provide their locally grown produce, honey & jams, eggs, meats, nuts, flowers and more to our local farmers markets. Pretty amazing, right!?
So now to the important questions, when and where can you find your nearest farmers market? Well, …
1. This Sunday is Mother’s Day and every mom deserves to be celebrated! In case you didn’t know, being a mom is HARD so to show your mom (or mother figure) how much you love and appreciate her (because you better!), we have our top 10 Mother’s Day ideas on the blog.
2. It’s our (Hayley and Tanisha’s) sister’s birthday this weekend (HBD Ry!) and we are going to celebrate with some local wine tasting at DeLiese Cellars and Giessinger Winery (we’ve never been to either). We really like wine and love trying out new wineries.
What are some of your favorite local …
It can be easy to get in a rut when it comes to date night. We can easily find ourselves going to the same restaurant or seeing yet another movie, because that’s what we’ve always done and it doesn’t take much thought or planning.
But we challenge you to change that this weekend. We are lucky enough to have the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks — one of the largest performing arts centers between Los Angeles and San Francisco. There are more than 400 performances annually, including Broadway musicals, dance companies, popular entertainers, concerts, and more!
