Our Favorite Local Brunch Spots

Not to sound too basic, but…

we LOVE brunch.

Like, borderline obsessed. And what’s not to love? Delicious, insta-worthy food. Acceptable day drinking, in public. Catching up with good friends. Beautiful, outdoor patios [our favorite, and — thanks to the 805 — it’s almost always patio-sitting weather :)]!

Today we’re sharing some of our fave brunch spots in the 805.  But friends, this is a two-way street — so if you have a fave brunch spot or two that we haven’t listed, please share in the comments below 🙂

How to Make a Festive Tablescape {DIY}

Big dinners and holiday parties is one of the reasons why I love this time of year.  But we all know hosting friends and family can also be super stressful.  Last year Mark and I hosted Thanksgiving at our new house and I definitely was stressed. We had just moved into our new home, had a new baby, and were hosting family from out of town.  I was having major mom brain/sleep deprivation thanks ot my adorable 2 month old, so I had a vision of what I wanted to do, but no real plan.

And when I started laying out my generic plan of …

Butternut Squash Soup {DIY Recipe}

So I am by no means a great cook, but one thing I can make is butternut squash soup.  And I only say this because my husband told me so:)  Thanks to Pinterest (yes, I actually made something that I found on Pinterest!) I found this delicious recipe for butternut squash soup complete with bacon… because as we all know, bacon makes everything taste better. Duh.

This recipe is from good old Martha Stewart, so you know it’s amazing and — believe me — it is pretty easy to make! I have a new baby so I’m not spending …

Your Guide to Local Farmers Markets

Spring time means longer days, beautiful flowers, sitting on porches and eating farm fresh foods. Don’t you agree!?

And luck for all of us, the Conejo Valley and surrounding 805 area are home to an abundance of farmers markets. We didn’t even realize how many there really were until we started researching – which just adds to the ever-growing reasons of why we love living in the 805. We’re so fortunate to have access to numerous farms who provide their locally grown produce, honey & jams, eggs, meats, nuts, flowers and more to our local farmers markets. Pretty amazing, right!?

So now to the important questions, when and where can you find your nearest farmers market? Well, …

A Date Night at the Theatre

It can be easy to get in a rut when it comes to date night.  We can easily find ourselves going to the same restaurant or seeing yet another movie, because that’s what we’ve always done and it doesn’t take much thought or planning.

But we challenge you to change that this weekend.  We are lucky enough to have the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks — one of the largest performing arts centers between Los Angeles and San Francisco. There are more than 400 performances annually, including Broadway musicals, dance companies, popular entertainers, concerts, and more!

10 Books On My Nightstand {2017 Reading List}

This year, one of my goals was to finally get to reading all those books I purchased from Amazon last year.  Thanks to my toddler and baby it’s been a bit difficult (#momlife), but I’m trying to be intentional about scrolling less and reading more.  So far I’ve started two books this year and have actually been making some progress (yay me!!!).

Here are 10 books that I am looking forward to reading {and I’ll be happy if I read half of them haha}:

The Zookeepers …

3 Reasons Why We Love Refugio Ranch… And You Will Too

Looking for your next adventure? So were we and boy, do we have you covered:)

On our recent “sister weekend” trip to Los Olivos, Santa Ynez and Solvang, we had the pleasure of visiting Refugio Ranch‘s vineyard and tasting room in Los Olivos. We didn’t know what to expect when driving down the dirt road, but we were quickly blown away by the beauty of the vineyard, the hospitality of Max (the son of Kevin Gleason the owner) and his beautiful wife Vanessa, and the delightful wines we tasted.

3 Reasons why we love Refugio Ranch:

the story the people the …

Let It Snow at Four Seasons Westlake Village! {local events}

I don’t know about you, but I’m just a little obsessed with Christmas.  It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and now that I have a family of my own with two little girls, I love it even more.  I especially love that the holiday season focuses on spending time with friends, family and loved ones.  I’m always on the look out for festive activities and events to take my daughters to celebrate the season and we’ve heard such great things about the Let It Snow event at the Four Seasons Westlake Village — so that was on the top of my list this …
