Our Favorite Healthy Food Eateries in the 805

The holidays may be our favorite time of year, but it might not be our body’s favorite. Am I right?;) All the feasts, treats, spirits, stress… it can catch up to you quickly. But don’t fret! Now is the perfect time to start fresh (again) and get back to eating healthy:)

And lucky for you, we laid our our favorite healthy spots to grab a bite to eat in the 805. Let us know about your fave in the comments below!

New Year, New You. Let’s do this!

JOi Cafe {Westlake Village}

Check out our full blog post here on how JOi Cafe got started! This is the perfect lunch spot, but they also offer breakfast, dinner and a to-go area for smoothies, coffee & more. For breakfast, we LOVE the Suprfruit Breakfast Bowl and SuperFood Pancakes for breakfast; and for lunch/dinner, we love the Enchiladas and Fun Tuna. What are your favorites?!

SunLife Organics {Thousand Oaks & Malibu}

Our FAVORITE smoothie spot. The best post-workout or summer day meal (and isn’t everyday like summer in the 805?;) We especially love the Wolverine, Mystic, Million Dollar Smoothie and Brazilian Bowl. So SO good.

Hugo’s {Agoura Hills}

We LOVE their Almond Energy Pancakes and LL805 insiders say the gluten-free toast flat bread and Indian tandoori are the best around! Hugo’s offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offers great COCKTAILS and drinks. What’s your go-to items?

Sole Soups {Agoura Hills}

If you couldn’t tell already by our many Instagram posts — we are OBSESSED with Sole (esp. since they conveniently opened up right down the street from Nicole and I!:). You must try their bone broth (both the beef and chicken) and we love all of their soups, it’s hard to pick a fave. The carrot ginger coconut milk and broccoli soups are top notch — but really, all of them are amazing. And like they say, “If you’re not juicing, you should be souping!”.

Blue Table {Agoura Hills & Calabasas}

We love this local gem. The perfect spot for lunch in my opinion! I love getting their Salad Trio and picking out something delicious from the fresh deli. And their sandwiches are to die for — you MUST TRY the Ellen’s Special, Prosciutto & Burrata and the Chicken Pesto Panini. I love them all! (We also love their coffee and packaged goods!)

Malibu Farm {Malibu}

Check out our full blog post here. This is our go-to spot for out of town visitors – I mean, the food is amazing and the setting is so BEAUTIFUL. It’s fun to walk around the pier before or after you eat too! All of the menu items are amazing and they also offer pressed juices and local wine! Great date spot too 🙂

Ollo {Malibu}

We heard from a fellow 805-er that we had to try Ollo– and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I mean, just check out their farm-to-table menu and you will see for yourself. They are especially known for their breakfast menu, which is served everyday until 3pm, and we LOVE the sound of their Bowls for lunch/dinner! More reason to come back!

Kanaloa Seafood {Oxnard & SB}

Started in Santa Barbara, Kanaloa just recently opened a kitchen in their Oxnard market and are now serving lunch. The Hawaiian word, Kina’ole, means “doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place, to the right person, for the right reason, with the right feeling every time.” And honestly, it’s the perfect name for this market. You’ve never had fresher, more sustainable seafood until you’ve eaten here. Take our word for it.

Mesa Verde {Santa Barbara}

Our friends LOVE this place and it’s pretty obvious why — a plant-based cuisine restaurant located on the mesa in Santa Barbara featuring a unique vegan and organic menu with locally harvested ingredients and a farm to table experience. I mean, do we need to say any more??

Bell Street Farm {Los Alamos}

Everything on the menu is delicious and fresh. We sat on the dog-friendly patio and enjoyed a glass of rose along with our salad, soup and sandwich. This is a MUST TRY whether you’re driving through or visiting (check out our blog post here on why you should make Los Alamos your next getaway!)

Farmer & The Cook {Ojai}

We have yet to go here but cannot WAIT. We’ve heard amazing things and have been eyeing the menu. Let us know if you’ve been and what your favorites are!

Here’s a couple other healthy spots that we love (all great for quick stops/on-the-go!):

Lassens {Thousand Oaks, SB, SLO & more!}

Vintage Grocers {Westlake & Malibu}

Erewhon Market {Agoura Hills/Calabasas}

Juice Ranch {Westlake, SB & Carpinteria}

Mendocino Farms {Westlake Village & more!}

Urbane Cafe {TO, Agoura Hills, SLO, Ventura, Camarillo & more!}

We also just heard about The Ranch Daily , a new food delivery service that offers healthy, organic and locally sourced meals (based here in Malibu, originated at The Ranch) — thank you to our loyal LL805 reader, Shazia Pascal, for sharing! 🙂

What’s your favorite healthy go-to spot in the 805? Please share in the comments below- we’d love to hear from you!
