Bloody Mary Bar {DIY Recipe & Events}

A wise man once said, “Brunch without booze is just a very sad breakfast.”

Not being one to go against the sage advice of others, I decided to host a bloody mary bar at my brunch-beach-boozy-birthday-bash last year. [like I’ve said before — alliteration really gets me].

Let me tell you: it was a hit.

Alright, assemble the usual suspects:

  • Bloody Mary mix: I like Zing & Zang, but it’s kinda fun to get a couple different varieties, like regular, extra spicy, etc.
  • Garnishes: celery stalks, pickle spears, lemon and lime wedges, pepperoncinis, jalapenos, Spanish olives, and even strips of bacon are all fair game!
  • Vodka: We got a huge bottle of Kirkland brand vodka from Costco (rumor has it that it’s actually Belvedere in a different bottle.  I’m no vodka expert, but I’m gonna go with YES.).  I also am a huge fan of Tito’s vodka!
  • Sauces: get crazy here!  Assemble all of your favorite hot sauces, horseradish, and worcestershire, and even ask your friends to bring over a few that are taking up space in their refrigerator door.  Our favorites include: Frank’s Red Hot, Sriracha, Tapatio, and Chipotle Tabasco
  • Seasonings: salt and pepper, but also include Cajun, Creole, lemon pepper, seasoning salt, cayenne… get spicy!
  • Extras: ice, cups, a jigger or shot glass, swizzle sticks, cocktail spears, and some stirring spoons

Gang’s all here!

Now, your average [non-Bloody-drinking] Joe might not have the slightest clue on how to make a Bloody Mary.

…um ok, fine. Before this party, I had no idea either.

I searched Pinterest for a guide, and found this little gem, originally posted by her, but sold on etsy by this girl.  However, sadly, it is no longer available for purchase.

How to Make a Bloody Mary

I stuck it in a frame, and before I knew it, our red cups were filled and we were drinking our salad for the day.  And the rest is history, folks.
