Building Our Very First Home {Part 12}

Well, the cabinets and countertops are in! You saw the cabinet boxes in my last update, but now the white shaker doors are on and the countertops are in. Check itΒ out-

countertops - white cabinets - black countertop - kitchen island - LocalLove805white cabinets - kitchen - stained island - new construction - LocalLove805We were debating the black countertops for quite awhile and then last minute, we decided to go for it. So happy we did too πŸ™‚ It’s black absolute leather granite. I think it’s the perfect addition to the white kitchen – same with our stained island.

The island countertop is white cloud quartzite. We really wanted white marble (I like the look of it better – it’s more white with less grey), but the maintenance on marble is tough. So we decided to stick with the quartzite.Β white cabinets - kitchen - stained island - new construction - LocalLove805We also got Β the hood installed and the antique copper/oil rubbed sink faucet and pot filler (both from Signature Hardware) – which I LOVE. [That was a must for me!]new kitchen - new home - white subway - copper bronze pot filler - black countertops

We also continued the island countertop and white subway backsplash in our dining room dry bar. The backsplash was a last minute addition because we had leftovers, so it worked out perfectly!white cabinets - kitchen - stained island - new construction - LocalLove805Now onto the living room addition – we had some leftover black absolute leather granite for the fire place as well as someΒ black slate leftover from the laundry room which we used as the hearth!new construction - new home - fireplace - black fireplace hearth - slate - LocalLove805For the master bedroom, we used leftover tile from our shower seat as the fireplace hearth [pretend you don’t see the light!
