Pop-Up Fixer-Upper: Part 1

It’s no secret that these LL805 ladies loooove camping — what, you haven’t seen all of our Instagram posts?! 😉

Both my husband and I grew up camping with our families all of our lives [he in a pop-up tent trailer, me in a camper on the back of my dad’s truck].  We have such hilarious ridiculous fond memories of sitting with our marshmallow-clad roasters extended over a roaring fire, eating hot dogs, and getting into various types of mischief in the middle of nowhere.

Regardless of where we set up camp, one thing was for sure — nothing makes a strong family bond like having …

The [hand]Writing’s On The Wall {Brown & Co. Designs}

As avid DIY-ers, we have been loooving the new emergence of local artisans offering workshops on how to get crafty + creative in their own specialty.

One such artisan, Heather Brown from Brown & Co. Designs, has been offering brush lettering workshops that seem to sell out within hours of announcing a new one!

Lucky for us, we snagged two seats at her latest one, held at MadeWest Brewery in Ventura.  Even on a Tuesday night, this workshop …

How to Make a Festive Tablescape {DIY}

Big dinners and holiday parties is one of the reasons why I love this time of year.  But we all know hosting friends and family can also be super stressful.  Last year Mark and I hosted Thanksgiving at our new house and I definitely was stressed. We had just moved into our new home, had a new baby, and were hosting family from out of town.  I was having major mom brain/sleep deprivation thanks ot my adorable 2 month old, so I had a vision of what I wanted to do, but no real plan.

And when I started laying out my generic plan of …

Butternut Squash Soup {DIY Recipe}

So I am by no means a great cook, but one thing I can make is butternut squash soup.  And I only say this because my husband told me so:)  Thanks to Pinterest (yes, I actually made something that I found on Pinterest!) I found this delicious recipe for butternut squash soup complete with bacon… because as we all know, bacon makes everything taste better. Duh.

This recipe is from good old Martha Stewart, so you know it’s amazing and — believe me — it is pretty easy to make! I have a new baby so I’m not spending …

Why Macrame Will Be Your New Fave DIY

I’m sure you’ve seen those gorgeous macrame wall hangings on all of your fave ‘grammer accounts — and then you go to buy one, and you’re like, “hi, NOPE.”

Thank goodness for Jessica Needham, entrepreneur and girl boss of homeMADE Ventura!  She is totally rocking this DIY craft that we now love, and taking the 805 by storm with her own macrame workshops!  She invited us to stop by and give it a try this month… and now, we’re hooked. Our workshop was in the beautiful barn at Camarillo Ranch, and provided the prime environment for a beautiful summer Sunday.

How To: Put Together the Ultimate Charcuterie Plate {featuring Boutique Wine Club}

So… I have a confession.

I. LOVE. CHEESE.  Of all kinds. Unconditionally. Head over heels. Wanna marry it. Obsessed.  {Phew, thanks for listening. I feel so much better with that out in the open.}

But, a man cannot live on cheese alone [that’s how the saying goes, right?].  A perfectly-balanced cheese plate needs more than just, well, cheese.  This is when the fancy term “charcuterie” comes in.

Pro tip: it’s pronounced “shar-KOO-ter-ee” — now you can sound very French and sophisticated. You’re welcome.

We …

DIY Holiday Gift Ideas for your Host(ess)

I mean, tis the season for festivities and giving, right? The holiday season is the most wonderful time of year for many reasons — some of which include all of the fun festivities with friends, co-workers and family! Which means weekends are jammed packed with holiday events and the hustle begins before you know it.

What we sometimes forget (or at least, what I tend to forget during this busy time of year), is bringing a gift for your host(ess) as a small token of your gratitude.

Our sister-in-law, Mandy, threw yet another amazing party (she’s also the one who threw this adorable Red Truck Garage themed …

Party Popcorn {DIY favors}

Every year for Fakesgiving, I love to try a new party favor for my guests.  This year, since I now have an infant, I wanted to do something simpler — and I couldn’t be more pleased with how this one turned out!

Being a big fan of that salty-sweet combo, I decided to try my hand at making chocolate-drizzled popcorn!

Here’s how to do it (without paying craycray Popcornopolis prices!):

You will need:

Kettle corn (get the BIG bags!) Candy melts in your color of choice (I got dark chocolate + orange-colored vanilla flavors!) Wax paper Cellophane bags Twist …

DIY Flower Mart Themed Baby Shower {DIY events}

As you may have seen on our Instagram feed, my sisters and I recently hosted a baby shower for our very own, Tanisha Kipling! She is having her baby girl #2 due October 7th — so soon! {PS if you haven’t already, check out her maternity photos here!}

We were fortunate enough to host the shower over a delicious brunch at Mediterraneo on the Westlake Village Inn property. We love their outdoor patios and of course, their food! It is the perfect setting for a shower, and any small gathering at that — plus, it’s conveniently located right next door to Stonehaus in case any guests want to continue …
