I’m sure many of you have driven by the Santa Barbara Polo Club just north of Carpinteria, but have never stopped – thinking it either wasn’t open to the public or too expensive to attend, just like I originally thought. Well, turns out we’re all wrong. And guys, attending a polo match is SO MUCH fun, especially on a beautiful sunny day in the 805! Not to mention, it’s such a good excuse to dress up (and wear that big hat in true polo fashion).
My husband and I were lucky enough to sneak away, sans kids, for a little day date and we wanted to …
Not to sound too basic, but…
we LOVE brunch.
Like, borderline obsessed. And what’s not to love? Delicious, insta-worthy food. Acceptable day drinking, in public. Catching up with good friends. Beautiful, outdoor patios [our favorite, and — thanks to the 805 — it’s almost always patio-sitting weather :)]!
Today we’re sharing some of our fave brunch spots in the 805. But friends, this is a two-way street — so if you have a fave brunch spot or two that we haven’t listed, please share in the comments below 🙂

The Farmer’s Market at the Westlake Village Promenade is definitely our new favorite addition to an already spectacular local shopping center! Open from 10am-3pm on Saturdays, head to the Westlake Promenade Farmer’s Market to enjoy local produce, artisan goods, savories and sweets, as well as fun for the whole family! There are always fun events coming up (like a pop-up CycleBar class, or even a petting zoo!) so you’ll want to head here every week to see what’s new.
These were our five favorite farmer’s market finds — what are your’s?
1. Fresh flowers
Our first stop at Vintage Grocers’ flower stand was …
I’m sure you’ve seen those gorgeous macrame wall hangings on all of your fave ‘grammer accounts — and then you go to buy one, and you’re like, “hi, NOPE.”
Thank goodness for Jessica Needham, entrepreneur and girl boss of homeMADE Ventura! She is totally rocking this DIY craft that we now love, and taking the 805 by storm with her own macrame workshops! She invited us to stop by and give it a try this month… and now, we’re hooked. Our workshop was in the beautiful barn at Camarillo Ranch, and provided the prime environment for a beautiful summer Sunday.
What did you do with all of that extra sunlight on Tuesday? This is white-wine-drinking, porch-sitting, live music weather — and we are soaking in every minute of it!
Here are five ways to take advantage of these balmy summer evenings…
1. Outdoor Concerts :: because it gives you a great excuse to drink wine out of a travel coffee mug and have it be socially appropriate (or is that not socially appropriate…?)
Janss Marketplace Summer Concert Series [Thousand Oaks]: Check it out each Wednesday night from 6-8pm — this week kicks off the series with Ticket to Ride, a Beatles tribute band! Don’t forget …
Hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing Father’s Day weekend 🙂 It was Brett’s first Father’s Day as a new “dada” (as Graham calls him… ok he calls me that too sometimes, haha!), so I decided to take our little family north to Ventura for the day!

We loaded up our bikes and lathered on the sunscreen because hellooo did you see how beautiful it was yesterday?! There’s a free parking lot at the far end of Main Street, …
It can be easy to get in a rut when it comes to date night. We can easily find ourselves going to the same restaurant or seeing yet another movie, because that’s what we’ve always done and it doesn’t take much thought or planning.
But we challenge you to change that this weekend. We are lucky enough to have the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks — one of the largest performing arts centers between Los Angeles and San Francisco. There are more than 400 performances annually, including Broadway musicals, dance companies, popular entertainers, concerts, and more!
HELLO, March. 🙂 Does this week’s weather have you feeling like spring is near?!? ‘Cuz we sure do! Apparently it’s supposed to rain on Sunday though, so don’t put away your winter jackets just yet.
1. Even though it’s sunny and spring-like today, don’t forget winter is still here in the mountains. So make sure to get in your last bit of snowy escapes before it’s all sunshine and rainbows/beaches 😉 2. Local entrepreneurs and good friends of our’s, Alec & Aric Avedissian, will be on Read More
1. The newly created Boutique Wine Club which brings the best of 805 wine right to your door! PLUS, we have a $25 value SPECIAL OFFER for our readers — check out our blog post here to get the deets!
2. Y’all know we love our coffee and we especially love discovering new, local coffee roasters! We are super excited about Calioh Coffee and Prospect Coffee Roasters, both based in Ventura!! Have you tried either?
3. The sunshine is out and it hasn’t rained …
We know that not everyone is the red-roses-and-box-of-chocolates type of person — good thing there are tons of different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Here are a few of our personal faves:
1. For the Adventurous:
RUNdezvous 5k Fun Run // win prizes, such as massages, dinner gift certificates, chocolates, and more, while having fun (+ getting a workout!) with your significant other! Malibu Country Mart Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt // follow the clues for your chance to win $4k in jewelry, prizes, and gift cards hidden around the MCM! This is a great way to work …
