Beachfront + Affordable Al Fresco Dining {Padaro Beach Grill}

This weekend, we went beach camping with Brett’s parents — they drove their vintage trailer on its “maiden voyage” from Tahoe, and will be spending a total of 14 days camping in various locations across the 805!

We met up with them in Carpinteria, which immediately made me crave fish and chips from Padaro Beach Grill.  This preggo woman was appeased (thanks, guys!) and we decided to have dinner there Saturday night.

Best Kept Secret: The Old Place & Cornell Winery {Agoura Hills}

The Old Place is a tiny cabin tucked away in the canyon, which gives it that extra special, quiet mountain charm. You would never guess you were 20 miles from LA! Located off of Kanan and Mulholland, The Old Place is nestled in between Troutdale and Cornell Winery (which I’d say is pretty convenient). As soon as you pull up to it, you’d think you were in the old wild west — or at least how I imagine the old wild west 😉 Some guests even rode up on horses!

Best of: Coffee + Wine Bars {and yes, they do exist}

I don’t know about you, but this whole “half coffee bar, half wine bar” thing that people are catching on to is nothing but pure. GENIUS.

Two of my favorite vices, married into a one-stop shop?  #heaven

Ready for the breakdown of our favorite places?  Pick your poison:

Five Friday Faves {Valentine’s Edition}

Love is in the air (as in, I LOVE 3-day weekends!) — can you feel it, or are you mostly just feeling the sun beating down on the glorious 805? {Whatevs, El Niño}

Whether you are head-over-heels with your S.O., or just mostly in love with pizza and Netflix, there is something for everyone to lovingly embrace this weekend.  [Also, PSA: ObamaJam is coming at you this weekend, along with a double dose of traffic thanks to the LA Marathon.  So, pretty much, just stay in the 805 and you will be juuuuust fine :)]

A Favorite Caffeine Fix: BeanoVino {Newbury Park}

There’s really nothing better than a cute little coffee shop that serves delicious lattes, invites you to sit in a comfy over-sized chair, and use their free wifi… until you discover they also serve wine.  So now you’re only dilemma is what to order. Coffee. No, wine. No… coffee {I mean, it’s only 11 AM so I guess it’s coffee ;)}.

Those are just a few of the reasons why we love BeanoVino in the Dos Vientos Ranch community of Newbury Park, located in their Village Center.

It may be a little out of the way, but it really is the perfect place to …

A Day at the Races {Santa Anita Race Track}

It’s tough living the “suite” life … which is exactly what we did on Opening Day of Santa Anita Race Track’s 2016 season!

Aptly named #theGreatRacePlace, it is absolutely the place you want to visit this year.  After undergoing a ton of incredible renovations, it has a whole new look — and it definitely isn’t your Grandpa’s weekend haunt anymore.

IMG_3675IMG_3675

We started the day off by entering through the Chandelier Room — a gorgeous hall (with — you guessed it — chandeliers) featuring live jazz music and food stations …

I have this thing for cozy coffee shops {Ragamuffin Coffee Roasters}

I have this thing with cozy coffee shops (and also, a good cup of brew #duh), and let me tell you, Ragamuffin has it all.

We had heard of the local roaster opening, but unfortunately, since we we don’t make it out to Newbury Park that often, I hadn’t had the chance to visit yet. So, when I was recently in the area, I knew I had to stop by.

Ragamuffin is the perfect spot to meet up with a friend, get in a little quiet time, finish some work, go on a date {wink wink 😉 } … you name …

Your Go-To Girls Night {Pinot’s Palette}

It’s what I like to affectionately call the “karaoke of the art world,” and it’s quickly taking the country by storm.  It involves canvas and Cabernet, paintbrushes and Pilsner, and it’s coming to a “Girls Night Out” near you.

IMG_9134IMG_9134

Intrigued?  KNEW IT.

Last week, we had the good fortune of attending the Media Soft Opening night for Pinot’s Palette, an art-class-meets-bar experience that totally wowed us.  Michelle and Amanda Green, who are adorable sisters and the owners of Pinot’s Palette, …
