So, remember when we did that amazing Mommy Meet Up at The Promenade at Westlake in collaboration with Vintage Grocers and The Arterie Studio? I know it was back in April, and I’m just now getting around to writing the blog post, but… #momlife.
For those who are moms, we know how exhausting the day-to-day can be, and how necessary it is to have the support of other moms — not only for our own sanity, but also to know that we’re not alone in this journey. Motherhood can be isolating at times, and it’s …
It’s no secret that these LL805 ladies loooove camping — what, you haven’t seen all of our Instagram posts?! 😉
Both my husband and I grew up camping with our families all of our lives [he in a pop-up tent trailer, me in a camper on the back of my dad’s truck]. We have such hilarious ridiculous fond memories of sitting with our marshmallow-clad roasters extended over a roaring fire, eating hot dogs, and getting into various types of mischief in the middle of nowhere.
Regardless of where we set up camp, one thing was for sure — nothing makes a strong family bond like having …
As avid DIY-ers, we have been loooving the new emergence of local artisans offering workshops on how to get crafty + creative in their own specialty.
One such artisan, Heather Brown from Brown & Co. Designs, has been offering brush lettering workshops that seem to sell out within hours of announcing a new one!
Lucky for us, we snagged two seats at her latest one, held at MadeWest Brewery in Ventura. Even on a Tuesday night, this workshop …
Okay guys, it’s CHRISTMAS CRUNCH TIME: 5 more sleeps until Santa comes!
It is so easy to get bogged down by the stress of shopping + to-do lists + gifting + holiday hullabaloo, that sometimes we forget our favorite parts of the Christmas season. These are usually the simple pleasures that stick out in our minds, flooding us with joy when we near this season next year.
In one last attempt to reign in some Christmas magic, we present (pun intended) to you our Christmas Season Bucket List, where we hope to spark some ideas for increasing tradition/nostalgia/excitement/hope/light in your lives!
When do you get your Christmas tree?
The day after Thanksgiving (every year, without fail) my parents would load up the car with all four kids, a big blanket, and a huge roll of twine, and head to a local Christmas tree farm. Once the first few notes of the Amy Grant Christmas album started playing, everyone knew it was officially Christmas tree time!
…alright, thanks …
Okay, it’s the same old story every year: you want to come up with creative gifts, you want to shop local, you want to choose products that promote sustainability and environmental responsibility… but you still end up grabbing something off of Amazon — right?!

Big dinners and holiday parties is one of the reasons why I love this time of year. But we all know hosting friends and family can also be super stressful. Last year Mark and I hosted Thanksgiving at our new house and I definitely was stressed. We had just moved into our new home, had a new baby, and were hosting family from out of town. I was having major mom brain/sleep deprivation thanks ot my adorable 2 month old, so I had a vision of what I wanted to do, but no real plan.
And when I started laying out my generic plan of …
Friendsgiving… Fakesgiving… whatever you decide to call it, we are now approaching our 8th Annual Fakesgiving Celebration! I know, right??
We’ve come a looong way since October 2010, the inaugural Fakesgiving celebration at my parents’ house with about 10 of us in attendance.
Now, we’ve hit around 75 adults + 15 kiddos, and host it in our own backyard! It has definitely morphed into something bigger and better than we’ve ever dreamed, and we absolutely love this tradition every year (even though we now …
So I am by no means a great cook, but one thing I can make is butternut squash soup. And I only say this because my husband told me so:) Thanks to Pinterest (yes, I actually made something that I found on Pinterest!) I found this delicious recipe for butternut squash soup complete with bacon… because as we all know, bacon makes everything taste better. Duh.
This recipe is from good old Martha Stewart, so you know it’s amazing and — believe me — it is pretty easy to make! I have a new baby so I’m not spending …

Here are just a few of the things we are looking forward to this fall season… did we name any of your favorites?
