It’s no secret that these LL805 ladies loooove camping — what, you haven’t seen all of our Instagram posts?! 😉
Both my husband and I grew up camping with our families all of our lives [he in a pop-up tent trailer, me in a camper on the back of my dad’s truck]. We have such hilarious ridiculous fond memories of sitting with our marshmallow-clad roasters extended over a roaring fire, eating hot dogs, and getting into various types of mischief in the middle of nowhere.
Regardless of where we set up camp, one thing was for sure — nothing makes a strong family bond like having …
Having married a man whom was born and raised in Lake Tahoe, it goes without saying that I have made many road trips from LA to Stateline, NV.
Growing up, I was not a fan of long car rides. I was the kid that kept asking, “How many more minutes until we get there?” and groaning at whatever answer I received. Of course, I wasn’t completely miserable the whole time — …

Living in Southern California, you get a LOT of visitors. And living in Southern California, there’s a LOT to see and do. When you have visitors in town, it can be difficult to narrow it all down to just a few “must see” spots. We recently had Luke’s mom and sister in town from Wisconsin, and of course, high on their list of to-do’s was beach, wine tasting and shop.
So difficult to do in the 805, right?! HAHA not at all 🙂
Here’s a look at a few of our fave “go-to/must-see” local spots for out-of-towner guests:
First on the to-do list, beach.Read More

Summer means spending lots of time outdoors, especially since the days are long and it is always gorgeous out here! If you’re looking for a great hike [with lots of shade… hiii heatwave!] that is dog- and kid-friendly, look no further than Solstice Canyon. Here’s one of our favorite throwback posts for today’s Work-It Wednesday — enjoy!

So, I woke up on Saturday morning and got the strange urge for a hike.
Now, for me, hikes are fine and all, but I have a couple of caveats:
1. The hike needs to be pretty gorgeous and/or have …
Hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing Father’s Day weekend 🙂 It was Brett’s first Father’s Day as a new “dada” (as Graham calls him… ok he calls me that too sometimes, haha!), so I decided to take our little family north to Ventura for the day!

We loaded up our bikes and lathered on the sunscreen because hellooo did you see how beautiful it was yesterday?! There’s a free parking lot at the far end of Main Street, right near …

2. It’s our (Hayley and Tanisha’s) sister’s birthday this weekend (HBD Ry!) and we are going to celebrate with some local wine tasting at DeLiese Cellars and Giessinger Winery (we’ve never been to either). We really like wine and love trying out new wineries.
What are some of your favorite local …
During the last week that my husband was out on paternity leave, we decided that we wanted to do something memorable before he headed back to work. After a bit of searching on the HotelTonight app [genius concept, btw!], we settled on staying at The Cliffs Resort, located right between Pismo Beach and Avila Beach.
[hint: there’s currently a TravelZoo deal for this place, which includes a free upgrade!]
Also, perhaps in a moment of insanity, we decided to bring our dogs along, as well! Decidedly outnumbered with two pups and a 3-week-old infant, we …
