Christmas Light Displays {local holiday}

Nothing spreads a little Christmas spirit like a cup of hot cocoa in your hands and looking at Christmas lights!  Save a few dollars (let’s be real, you know you overspent your holiday shopping budget AGAIN this year), and spend some time wandering around these free holiday light displays!

Christmas Tree Lane {Oxnard}

Dec. 14th through Dec. 25th. Nightly displays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., F & G Streets between 5th & Palm.  Stroll or drive through one of Ventura County’s largest holiday light displays in the Henry T. Oxnard National Historic District!

 Animated Christmas Light Show {Newbury Park} [this appears to not be running this year — if you have an update on this home’s synchronized light show, let us know!]

Located at 5209 Via Jacinto in Dos Vientos. Turn the car stereo to FM 99.1 and watch the 13,000 incandescent bulbs light up synchronized to your favorite Christmas carols!  The display is turned on from 5 to 10 p.m.  This is a great activity for the family!

Animated Christmas Light Show {Thousand Oaks}

The Higgins Family at 1566 El Dorado Drive in Thousand Oaks always has a great display, with this year’s theme being  “Toyland.” Tune your radio to 98.5 FM for a great synchronized show!  Lights run 5:30 to 10pm.

Residential Holiday Lights {Camarillo}

Homes on Gemini Street and Waverly Avenue in Camarillo are decked out with tons of lights and lawn decorations to celebrate this holiday season. Drive the route, or park and walk down the street, any night of the week!

Winter Wonderland {Simi Valley}

A Winter Wonderland experience can be yours — just a few streets off of Sinaloa Rd. in Simi!  To make things extra merry and bright, they are hosting an open house — FREE — on the next two weekends from 6-10PM on Fri-Sun nights {Dec 12-14, Dec 19-21}.

Candy Cane Lane {Woodland Hills}

While not as local as some of the others, this one is worth the drive! Located at the intersection of Lubao and Oxnard Streets in Woodland Hills, it is a fantastic display of lights and Christmas cheer! This has been a tradition since 1952, and you might even catch Santa or his elves wandering along the street..!

Some pointers: people drive slowly down the street with their headlights dimmed so that everyone can enjoy the lights, and residents ask that visitors drive by no later than 10pm on weeknights, 11pm on weekends.

Bethlehem Experience {Westlake Village}

Westminster Presbyterian [located at 32111 Watergate Road] is hosting a drive-through Christmas experience about the birth of Jesus!  This is held on December 12 + 13 only, and happens every other year — so don’t miss it!  When you enter the line of cars, someone will hand you a CD so you can listen along as you drive.
