I mean, tis the season for festivities and giving, right? The holiday season is the most wonderful time of year for many reasons — some of which include all of the fun festivities with friends, co-workers and family! Which means weekends are jammed packed with holiday events and the hustle begins before you know it.
What we sometimes forget (or at least, what I tend to forget during this busy time of year), is bringing a gift for your host(ess) as a small token of your gratitude.
Our sister-in-law, Mandy, threw yet another amazing party (she’s also the one who threw this adorable Red Truck Garage themed 1st birthday party for our nephew) – their 8th Annual Christmas Party! And Luke and I decided to throw our first Tipsy & Toasty holiday cocktail party at our home. Both were both a success — the Christmas music was playing, the appetizers were filling and the drinks were flowing.
All this to say, we were impressed by the hostess gifts that Mandy and I received from our guests. One favorite was a Hot Chocolate & Baileys gift basket. Super simple too — all you need is a basket, bottle of Bailey’s, a mason jar full of hot chocolate & everyone’s favorite, marshmallows — and, voila! Look at how adorable that is!
DIY Spiked Hot Chocolate Gift Basket Ingredients/Item List:
- Basket ($1 store, Home Goods/TJ Maxx & Marshall’s have great ones for cheap)
- Mason Jar (you can also get these at the $1 store or Home Goods/TJ Maxx)
- Bailey’s (you could also do peppermint or butterscotch schnapps)
- Hot chocolate mix
- Mini marshmallows
Another great ideas is an Eggnog Gift Set or a Spiked Cider Gift Set. If you have the time and creativity, you could easily make these yourself.
Items included in an Eggnog Gift Set:
- Mason Jars
- Festive paper straws (like these)
- Eggnog Recipe (printed on cute holiday paper)
- AND if you’re feeling the festive cheer, include a bottle of brandy! (my mom taught me that – it’s delicious!)
PS have you tried the almond milk and/or coconut milk eggnogs?! Sooooo good! And tastes way better than the traditional eggnong in my opinion.
Finally, another favorite is Wine & Mulling Spices Kit. Check out Nicole’s post here on how to make your own Mulling Spice Bags! We recommend giving a bottle of red wine along with it, such as a Cabernet, and of course we recommend supporting our local wineries in Malibu. You can also do a white wine and/or Apple Cider as a combo. And to keep it LOCAL, you could purchase wine from Malibu Wines, Rosenthal, Malibu Estate CIELO & Malibu Rocky Oaks also have great selections!
