This Week’s Edition {eat. shop. play. explore.}

“Cheers to the freakin’ weekend.”   -Rhianna

Whether you’re going hard this weekend, or saving up your energy for Halloween (1 week to go!), you should probably at least try one of these great ideas in our weekly roundup!

{eat.}

In case you haven’t heard yet, or seen our many Instagram and blog posts, Jeannine’s Food Hall is now open at the Shoppes at Westlake!  Yeah, I just had breakfast there AGAIN this morning — tried out their Kahlua French Toast and a Cinnamon Spice latté (stop judging me!).   We love their full coffee bar, and everything we’ve tried has been delicious.

We can’t wait to try out everything else Jeannine’s has to offer, including a smoothie and juice bar, a flatbread pizza oven, a specialty cheese area {oh, how I love cheese}, local wines, and a full bar.  Their dog-friendly patio is a welcome bonus! We love that they also have a little market area in the front supporting local artisans.

I personally love that their fresh-pressed juices don’t cost an arm and a leg (I’m sorry, but I’m highly resistant to paying $12 for a hand-stamped glass bottle) — only $5.50 for 16 oz!  Good for your body AND your bank account.  #winwin

Halloween is right around the corner, and it’s time to pick out your pumpkin and get carving! There are so many places in the area to shop for your perfect pumpkin.  So, just to name a few… you can check out Underwood Farms in Moorpark and Somis {they are having their famous Fall Harvest Festival this month as well — and, not to name names, but there have been quite the number of celebs spotted there this season!}, Big Wave Dave’s Pumpkin Patch in Ventura, Boccali Ranch Pumpkin Patch in Ojai and Bennett’s Best Pumpkin Patch in Agoura and Calabasas.  There are so many more, so be sure to visit one in your area and support your local farmers!

I straight up lost my voice this week because I screamed so loud at Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights (let’s just say, Zombies are my new worst nightmare).  No need to go all the way down there, however.  There are plenty of places to get your fright on this weekend, like the Reign of Terror Haunted House in Thousand Oaks.  I’ll be honest, even their website scared the bejeebus outta me.  It was voted the best haunted house in Southern California, so sounds like it’s definitely worth a visit.  Opening hours are Friday & Sunday nights 7-10pm and Saturday nights 7-11pm.  Click the link for ticket purchase and more information!

For a slightly more docile, yet still creepy, Halloween event, try out the Ghost Tours at Strathearn Park in Simi Valley.  It is a walking tour with no flashlights allowed (eeeek!) and actually gives a little dose of the area’s history, as well.  This is a family-friendly event, so for all you scaredy-cats (like me), this is your jam!

{explore.}

Ok, maybe this is a stretch (pun intended), but you should proverbially “explore” your yoga abilities at Yoga at the Pagoda this Saturday at Four Seasons, Westlake Village! This Saturday at 8:30, meet up with your trusty yoga mat at the Pagoda, and work for that child’s pose.

Every Saturday beginning October 25 through November 8, 2014 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. , a new high-end boutique INTERMIX will sponsor yoga classes, providing complimentary branded water bottles, exclusive offers to their Westlake Village boutique and other fun surprises.  Best part: admission is FREE.  Bring a friend!

What are you up to this weekend?  Have an event you’d like featured in the weekly eat.shop.play.explore. edition?  Let us know!
