Five Friday Faves {This Week’s Edition}

This weekend, we will be celebrating our own Hayley’s 30th birthday (!!!) camping and boating at Lake Nacimiento!  That’s right, we will be traveling up to our more northern 805 destinations, and making some fun stops in the area.  Here are our favorite stops on the way to Lake Nacimiento, on today’s Five Friday Faves!

1. Casa Dumetz Winery [Los Alamos] — great place to stop for some wine on your way up to more wine country!

2. Sides Hardware and Shoes [Los Olivos] — this restaurant (which includes bacon steak!) is a great road
trip stop for some delicious lunch!sides-restaurant

3. Our favorite campgrounds [Refugio, Carpinteria, Lake Nacimiento, El Capitan, Leo Carrillo, and more!]

You can’t go wrong with any of these destinations!  Find out our favorite places to get in-tents (ha!), along with our favorite tips for each campground.

4. This amazing map of WINE [Paso Robles]

If you can’t find a winery within a 5 minute drive from you while in Paso Robles, then you might be asleep.  They are literally EVERYWHERE.  Check out this interactive source to get you to the closest glass of Cab Sav, and STAT.

5. Lake Time!

A few of our favorite things to do while at Lake Nacimiento are:

  • eating breakfast burritos before heading out early in search of glassy water
  • Skurfing, wakeboarding, and tubing
  • lounging on the boat
  • finding and docking at a day beach
  • playing lots of Tom Petty music
  • eating taco salad
  • playing Rummikub at an old wooden picnic table
  • and making s’mores!
