Local Fitness: Free Fit Camp {Work It Wednesday}

Last week, I decided to try out a fitness group I found on  Two words caught my eye: Free, and FIT. Liking the sound of that!

After a couple of weeks of procrastination, I finally woke up at the crack of dawn and gave it a shot.  The 6am start time fits perfectly with my work schedule and commute to the Westside, and it wasn’t costing me a penny, so I just went for it.

I showed up with my yoga mat, water bottle, and towel to Chumash Park in Agoura Hills (adjacent to Agoura High School).   The trainer, Taryn Landberg, welcomed me and had me fill out a brief release form, and then we got started with our high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout.  She had some great jams, and I found myself waking up pretty easily once we got going!  Everyone there was so kind, encouraging, and motivating — the camaraderie kept the early hours fun 🙂

Sprints, abs, planks, leg work, some cool things called “Spiderman Push-Ups,” and 45 minutes later, I was sweaty and exhausted, yet stoked that I got my morning workout in and over with!

Okay, now for the catch.  This, as well other similar free workout groups like this one in Thousand Oaks, are run by people who promote and sell Herbalife. Now usually this kind of stuff turns me away but honestly, it wasn’t like that at all! There was actually no mentioning of Herbalife during the entire workout and it never felt awkward, salesy or forced — phew!

Plus, even if you’re not interested in Herbalife, Agoura Free Fit Camp is still a great way to meet new people and to get in that  much-needed HIIT workout before your day even truly begins! You’ll feel so much more accomplished — Oh, AND you’ll feel even better because it’s FREE!

Interested in joining in on the fun?  I knew it.

Come meet at Chumash Park at 6am on Wednesdays and Fridays, with your towel, yoga mat, water, and a can-do attitude — see you then!  {all fitness levels and ages are welcome}

    Thanks Nicole for the write-up. I have been coming to the fit-camp for about 10 weeks, and with three kids, it sure ‘fits’ my schedule! I have even brought my 10 year old and he loves it!
