Holiday Festivities {local events}

Alright, Scrooges — don’t get your Christmas sweater in a bunch just because we’re already talking about holiday events 😉 Plus, Costco and Target have had their halls decked since Halloween, so we’re not the only ones!

Get a little merry, jingle and mingle ’til you tingle, and get yourself over to these holiday events — some of them start this weekend!

The Promenade at Westlake annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on November 21st (tomorrow!!) from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. There will be live music entertainment by the Joy to Life Fountain. Perfect for a date night – grab dinner at one of the many restaurants on property (we especially love Public School 805!) and enjoy the show and snow after! [PS that picture above is from last year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony – we had so much fun!]

The Lakes at Thousand Oaks has the Holiday Ice Rink open now through January 19th, 2015! The Ice Rink is presented by UCLA Health. General admission for a 60 minute session is $10 and skate rentals are $4.

Four Seasons Westlake Village is hosting Let It Snow every Friday and Saturday evening from November 30th – December 29th. Come enjoy magical snowfall at 6pm and 9pm at The Lookout Lounge with hot beverages, sweet treats and holiday games for the kids!

The Collection Riverpark in Oxnard is having several holiday events starting November 22nd with their Tree Lighting Celebration including a musical spectacular, visit by Santa Claus and a fireworks finale! You can visit Santa from Nov. 22-Dec. 24, shop and dine while listening to Holiday Carolers, as well as have a special Breakfast with Santa on December 6th.  For more info visit their events page here.

Fillmore & Western Railway offers a few festive options including NorthPole Express (Wednesday – Sunday, Nov. 29th – Dec. 23rd), Christmas Tree Train (Saturdays & Sundays, Nov. 29th – Dec. 21st) and Dinner with Santa (Fridays, December 12th & 19th). You can find out more here!

The Oaks Mall is offering Santa Photos now through Christmas Eve (schedule here), Holiday Carol Sing-Along (Dec. 6th, 4p-6pm), and the Elf Academy: Breakfast with Santa (Dec. 6th, 8am & 9:45am) at LazyDog Restaurant – proceeds benefit Conejo Schools Foundation.

The Janss Marketplace is also offering Photos with Santa now through Christmas Eve (schedule here), Magical Holiday Lights now through Dec. 10th (nightly, 6-8pm), and the Jingle Bell Jump on Nov. 28th, 12pm where Santa will drop in via parachute (I know, right!?) – the event includes pictures with Santa, FREE train rides, FREE Christmas craft, Storytelling with Ms. Claus and FREE gift with purchase!

Tipsy Goat is hosting the 1st Annual Thousand Oaks SantaCon on Dec. 20th, 5pm! There’s a $10 donation for a free drink & raffle ticket entry and proceeds support local charity. There will be a DJ, raffle, live music, corn hole, flip cup (we’re FC fans & champs – look out!), costume contest and more. You can find out more here.

Ventura Village is hosting the 38th Annual Ventura Harbor Parade of Lights & Fireworks (Fri, Dec. 12th & Sat, Dec. 13th – parade starts at 6:30pm and fireworks are at 8pm) and the Winter Wonderland & Holiday Marketplace will be held on Dec. 21st, 1-5pm – event includes Victorian Carolers, holiday characters, snow every 15 minutes (!!), holiday crafts & games for the kids- plus Santa, Mrs. Claus and their live reindeer (!!), gifts and free parking!

Downtown Ventura will be having their Winter Wine Walk & Holiday Street Fair (thanks for the tip Amber!) on Saturday Dec. 6th from 12-8pm.  The day begins with the holiday street fair featuring local vendors and live entertainment.  Then the Winter Wine Walk (this sounds awesome to us!) starts at 4pm where several local businesses will have tasting sites for you to sample wines.  And then there will be a live jazz band with snowfall– that’s right…SNOWFALL!

Downtown Santa Barbara is having their annual Downtown Holiday Parade on Friday Dec. 5th starting at 5:30pm and the theme this year is Winter Nights and Holiday Lights.  The parade boasts high stepping marching bands, holiday floats, performers and of course the anticipated arrival of Santa Claus in his sleigh.  You can even come early starting at 4pm for a meet and greet with Santa himself.
