Another Kipling Home Remodel {Part 1}

So people probably think Mark and I are crazy for moving and remodeling a home, yet again (ICYMI, it’s our 3rd home in 6 years of marriage!).  Not to mention, we keep taking on these projects while I’m pregnant…and this time with a toddler in tow!  Yeah, I guess we’re a little crazy 😉

For some reason, every couple of years we get the itch to buy a fixer upper.  Even through the stress and chaos, there’s obviously something about it that we really enjoy. Although this time, I told Mark “we’re not moving again until we’re 80…or at the very least we better stay in this house for longer than 2 years.” Welp, I guess I was wrong!

Looking back at this picture of us in front of our last home makes me wonder how and why we decided to do this again.  You can even see that “new parent, I’m so tired look” and this was taken before we moved in and unpacked loads of boxes while taking care of a 3 week old…real fun haha!

So for those of you who don’t know, we bought our first home in Newbury Park and updated the kitchen, floors, and took down a few walls to make it more open concept.  With our last home in Thousand Oaks (photo above) we completely remodeled it — pretty much tore the house down to the studs.  This time, we bought a home that required a little bit less work (thank goodness!). I’d consider it a “some-what fixer upper” 🙂  We will be adding a half bath, remodeling the master bath, taking down a few walls, and redoing the kitchen and floors.  For the most part, we aren’t touching the upstairs bedrooms — so we consider this a little bit less of a project than our last house, but there’s still a lot going on.

My husband Mark is also doing a lot more of the work himself this time.  He installed the floors and is now in the process of installing our ikea kitchen cabinets and island!  We’ve made way too many trips to Lowes and Home Depot and thank God for Amazon Prime because it’s become our best friend.

Here’s a little peak into our remodel so far.  Keep watching for updates and please let me know if you have any DIY tips to share!

Hopefully we’ll be done within the next two weeks and actually move in before the new baby arrives this time!  I’ll keep you posted!

    We are about to create a great room and re do all flooring and kitchen. Love it all! I’d love to know where you got flooring, cabinets, counters!

      Hey Laura! We got our flooring from United Wholesale Flooring in Newbury Park. It’s our second time using them and definitely recommend them. Our kitchen cabinets are from Ikea (which saved us a ton of money and we did a lot of research before using them), and our counters we purchased through our contractor (they are quartz). Hope that helped! If you have any more questions let me know!

    Love everything I could see in your photos! You should be so proud. I’m curious where the bathroom faucets are from. Thinking of updating ours and that’s the color of all the metal in our home. 🙂

      Thanks so much Shana! Our bathroom faucets were from Lowes. 🙂
