[Local Entrepreneur Spotlight] Meet Lelaina from The Gannons Studio

Hi there! I’m Lelaina,

My love for art started when I was just five years old! Growing up I watched my mother paint and once I was old enough she started giving me canvases to make my own creations on (and let me tell you there are stacks and stacks of those creations!). Throughout my childhood I knew I loved art, but I hadn’t found that one technique that REALLY captured my heart. Then I discovered resin art and let me tell you, I became OBSESSED! My main love for resin art is that it takes two minds to create a piece. My mind AND the resin’s mind. I say this because resin has its own plans, it flows and mixes how it desires with whatever crosses its path, making it nearly impossible for me to 100% control it. Therefore, I say every piece is unique and can never be replicated.

After I fell in love with resin art I spontaneously started The Gannon Studio overnight. I knew that I loved what I did and that I wanted to bring unique creations into people’s lives. The best part about my business is that it was never supposed to be one in the first place. Creating art is just what I love to do! As I continue to grow with my creativity, I hope to bring something beautiful and unique to each person that crosses my path.

We asked Lelaina a couple questions so we can all get to know this #805bosslady a little better.

What is one of your favorite things about living in the 805?
My all-time favorite part about living in the 805 is all the gorgeous beaches, I mean how can it get any better? Growing up, my dad was a professional surfer so believe me when I tell you that I have spent a lot of time at our beaches! I could just sit and watch the waves for hours, it’s the best inspiration ever!

What is (one of your) favorite spots or thing to do in your hometown?
My favorite thing to do in this area is hiking! My personal favorite is Avila Ridge Trail but if I’m looking for a challenge, Bishops Peak is perfect! To be honest, any hike around here is amazing. Each one has a breathtaking view. Every time I’m out being active I’m reminded how blessed I am to live here!

And for anyone visiting your 805 home town, where MUST they go?
This may sound silly, but anyone visiting San Luis Obispo MUST go see the magnificent Bubblegum alley and snap a great photo, haha! It’s a teeny bit gross but super cool! Whoever started that wall made a little piece of 805 history!

And if you have a fave coffee shop, restaurant/eatery, winery, etc. please let us know!
Okay, now for the foodie part! One of my go to restaurants in the 805 is The Spoon Trade in Grover Beach, if you haven’t discovered this gem you’re missing out! My favorite dish at this restaurant is their chicken and waffles, AMAZING. Another incredible spot is the Eclair Bakery in The Village of Arroyo Grande. This bakery was my “treat yo self” spot for many many weeks once I discovered it! I mean it still is, let’s be real!

We love the passion and creativity that Lelaina brings to our growing LocalLove805 Marketplace.Β  Don’t you?!
