Locavore + Sangria Recipe {Four Seasons Westlake}

lo·ca·vore [noun] 1. a person whose diet consists only or principally of locally grown or produced food.
Walking through the Four Seasons, Westlake Village’s grounds, we couldn’t help but notice the expanses of produce and herbs grown on the premises — it seemed as if all of the foliage we saw was edible!  The amazing chefs there prepared a feast for us, so we could sample their locally-sourced menu.

The Local Flavors menu lists selections at each of their restaurants, each dish featuring “seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients from within a 400-mile radius of the hotel,” as well as the produce and herbs grown on the hotel’s property. We got to sample the following:

Corn-Crusted Fritto Misto [White Head Prawn | Calamari | Asparagus | Broccolini | Avocado | Smoked Pasilla Aioli]

And a few more that were so “in season” at the time, that they are no longer featured on the menu — and we were only there a couple of weeks ago.  That’s commitment, people!

And did you know that the cocktails are local, too?!

I know. It’s like this was meant for us.

Here’s the recipe for the featured signature cocktail, 100-Mile White Sangria [named because all ingredients come from within a 100-mile radius!]:
