Party Popcorn {DIY favors}

Every year for Fakesgiving, I love to try a new party favor for my guests.  This year, since I now have an infant, I wanted to do something simpler — and I couldn’t be more pleased with how this one turned out!

Being a big fan of that salty-sweet combo, I decided to try my hand at making chocolate-drizzled popcorn!

Here’s how to do it (without paying craycray Popcornopolis prices!):

You will need:

  • Kettle corn (get the BIG bags!)
  • Candy melts in your color of choice (I got dark chocolate + orange-colored vanilla flavors!)
  • Wax paper
  • Cellophane bags
  • Twist ties

1. Spread your kettle corn on wax paper :: use a big surface!

2. Melt your chocolate/candy melts :: This was WAY easier — use a gallon Ziplock bag (read the label to make sure it’s microwave safe!), pour the candy melts in, and microwave/squish the bag according to package directions.

3. Drizzle, drizzle, DRIZZLE :: Snip a small hole in the corner of the bag, and squeeze ALL OVER your popcorn.  Really go for it!  Use two or three colors to really make the popcorn pretty!

4. Wait for it to set :: Try not to eat it all before it’s ready!

5. Stir, package and/or eat! :: because my bags were triangular, the popcorn didn’t fit down into the narrow space… enter: Reese’s Pieces, which are the best in the world, and if you say they aren’t, I will fight you. You can also substitute M&Ms in your color scheme, or any other small candy, peanuts, marshmallows, etc.!

[hint: it’s best to use some of those twist ties to package these up!]

I’m also a big fan of puns, so I placed these in some crates and wrote “Thanks for Popping By!” 😉

These work great for any party or event (and I had a ton leftover after making 60 bags, so we put some out in bowls for people to eat!).  Candy Melts come in a bajillion colors and flavors, so get creative!

    Yay I’m so so glad you enjoyed it and also felt the empowered feeling that I felt taking her class. Here’s to more mamas with better info, support and tons of self-love!
