National Pancake Day: Side Street Cafe {local eats}

In honor of national pancake day, we are reposting one of our go-to breakfast places in the Conejo Valley…Side Street Cafe!! If you have not been there for breakfast yet you must…and why not today? I mean it is national pancake day!  Read on to find out why Side Street Cafe is one of our faves.

I am a huge ‘breakfast person.’  In my opinion, it’s the best and most important meal of the day.

When my husband and I lived in Newbury Park, I was on the hunt for a local breakfast café  — and luckily, we stumbled upon Side Street Café.  Now, let me tell you — this place is truly a hidden gem.  So hidden, in fact, that you may think you are heading in the wrong direction [it’s in the middle of an industrial area in Newbury Park].

But, don’t let that fool you.  Once you eat here, you will see why the locals love it and keep coming back for more.

Side Street Café is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch.  They have outdoor seating that is dog friendly (they even provide water and have a doggie menu!). The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious.

I can never decide what to get, so I usually make my husband get an omelette and I get the strawberry waffles or their amazing french toast and we share (although their portions are so large we are rarely able to finish our plates).   Side Street Café has become our go-to restaurant for breakfast, and it never disappoints.

Things we love: outdoor, dog-friendly seating and their coffee mugs (you’ll see why!)

Bonus: 7 varieties of Eggs Benedict — and you can sub biscuits and gravy instead of toast at no extra charge (my husband was in disbelief when he heard this!)

Have you been to Side Street Cafe before?  What’s your favorite thing to order?

{Side Street Cafe is located at 996 Lawrence Dr #103, Thousand Oaks, CA}
