Father’s Day Recap: Biking in Ventura

Hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing Father’s Day weekend 🙂 It was Brett’s first Father’s Day as a new “dada” (as Graham calls him… ok he calls me that too sometimes, haha!), so I decided to take our little family north to Ventura for the day!

We loaded up our bikes and lathered on the sunscreen because hellooo did you see how beautiful it was yesterday?! There’s a free parking lot at the far end of Main Street, right near Hwy 33, which leads directly into the mouth of the …

Five Friday Faves {This Week’s Edition}

Summer is starting to wrap up — but, as any 805-native knows, that hardly means the end of amazing weather, warm days, backyard barbecues, and balmy evenings.  Cram in some more summer fun before pumpkin-flavored-EVERYTHING starts rolling out!

1. MadeWest Brewing Company :: joining the ranks of my faaavorite breweries in the 805, MadeWest is hot on the scene.  Grab a generous 4oz sample size of any beer for only $2 [seriously!] with most full-size beers coming in at $3 and $4.

Five Friday Faves {This Week’s Edition}

1. ICYMI: We are looooving all of this press about something we’ve known for, like, ever.  Ventura County was just recently ranked #1 most naturally beautiful county in the entire United States.  Hey, Santa Barbara, not too shabby for you, either — you came in at #3!  Other honorable mentions from the 805 include Monterey County (coming in at #9) and San Luis Obispo County (#21).  That’s out of 3,111 counties!

The Perfect Getaway: Los Olivos {Part 2}

A few weeks ago a posted a little sneak peak of my quick birthday getaway to Los Olivos with my hubby, sans baby {believe me — it was hard to leave those chubby cheeks!}.  We had such an amazing time exploring the little downtown area and the local shops, eating some delicious food and of course tasting amazing wine and beer along the way.

We weren’t able to stay in Los Olivos because we booked this trip a little last minute so we ended up staying in Solvang which is only about a 10 minute drive away, if that.  There are also more options in terms of …

This Week’s Edition {eat. shop. play. explore}

So there’s a lot going on in the 805 this weekend for Super Bowl Sunday (for all things Super Bowl be sure to check out our post from yesterday here).    I only really watch Super Bowl for the eating (so many yummy dips!), prop betting and commercial watching and this year we will be watching the game at our house with friends and BBQ-ing since it’s supposed to such a nice day! We’ve got not only Super Bowl events for you today, but lots of other fun stuff taking place this weekend!

Enegren Brewing’s New Brewery Opening {local.events}

This weekend we stopped by the new brewery grand opening of Enegren Brewing Company in Moorpark and let me tell you — it was crazy! I could not believe how packed it was, and how awesome their new space is!  It seems huge compared to their last tasting room and it was absolutely full of people tasting new beers, hanging out with friends, listening to the live bands and enjoying some grub from food trucks.

This Week’s Edition {eat. shop. play. explore.}

We still can’t believe it’s 2015 already, let alone that we are now halfway through January! This week’s edition is all about what we are looking forward to in 2015.  We are really excited to dive into more of the 805 this year and to share what we learn and experience on our blog.  There is so much to do and see in our community and we can’t wait to bring that to you!  As always, we would love to hear from you on what some of your favorite local vacation spots, restaurants, shops, activities, etc are so that we can check them out too!

Enegren Brewing Company {Moorpark}

enegren-girls

In case you haven’t noticed already, one of the many things we love about Conejo Valley is this relatively new local brewery scene we have going on these days.

Case in point: Enegren Brewing Company in Moorpark.

Enegren Brewing Company was started by two brothers, Chris and Matt Enegren, and their friend Joe Nascenzi, while in school together at Loyola Marymount University.   It has since relocated back to their hometown of Moorpark, and has grown into a commercial brewery with several of their craft beers on tap.

If you haven’t been to their brewery yet, you might still recognize the name, as several …
