The HOPE4Kids Festival and Run is a community event that benefits the foster youth of Ventura County.  This 5K, 10K, and kids one mile “fun run” event takes place on Saturday, April 28th from 8am to 2pm in Lake Sherwood [2300 Norfield Drive, Thousand Oaks].  The festival and run is a community effort sponsored by Raising Hope Inc., Ventura County Children and Family Services, Living Oaks Community Church, and several other community partners.

Small Business Saturday {local shops}

In case you didn’t know, this coming Saturday is Small Business Saturday- a day to celebrate and support the small businesses in our community.  Small businesses play a vital role in our 805 community and it is so important to go out and #shopsmall whenever possible, and this Saturday is the perfect day to do just that.

Fave Resource: County of Los Angeles Public Library

You guys.  I have 4 library cards.

I know. Nerd Alert.

But, sorry I’m not sorry — libraries are one of the best local resources that people rarely tap in to.  Case in point: The County of Los Angeles Public Library.

The County of Los Angeles Public Library (COLAPL) system is a treasure trove of literary goodness.  I mean, there are approximately 7.5 million books in its 86 library branches, spread out over 51 cities in LA County (that’s over 3,000 square miles!).  But, enough of the dull facts – the point is, you most likely have one of these libraries in your …

Why We Love the 805 {10 things}

As I’ve gotten older and lived in other areas of Southern California,  I have come to realize how fortunate I was to grow up in the 805 area. I mean, it’s a pretty amazing place to live.

With it’s perfect location, it has everything you could need (and more).  I love the people who live here, and the feeling of community they bring. To put it simply, I feel safe and at home when I’m here.
