We’re // HOOKED // on Kanaloa Seafood

Butternut Squash Soup {DIY Recipe}

So I am by no means a great cook, but one thing I can make is butternut squash soup.  And I only say this because my husband told me so:)  Thanks to Pinterest (yes, I actually made something that I found on Pinterest!) I found this delicious recipe for butternut squash soup complete with bacon… because as we all know, bacon makes everything taste better. Duh.

This recipe is from good old Martha Stewart, so you know it’s amazing and — believe me — it is pretty easy to make! I have a new baby so I’m not spending …

7 Reasons Why Brunch is a MUST at Outpost {The Goodland in Goleta}

As soon as we drove up to The Goodland Hotel located in beautiful Goleta, just miles north of downtown Santa Barbara, we were instantly obsessed. And I mean, instantly. Everything from the font used on their signage, the dreamy airstream trailers and green grass lawn out front, the eclectic decor and vibrant colors all throughout, the laid-back Southern California facade that transports you to a swank yet breezy Palm Springs hotel in the 70’s — yeah, I’d say The Goodland had me at hello.

Oysters + Martinis = the Happiest of Hours {The Gallery Restaurant, Westlake}

Most of the time, happy hour means cheap, fried food and a decent bottle of domestic beer — you leave feeling somewhat satisfied, but mostly a little tipsy and a lot bloated. This is definitely not the case at The Gallery Restaurant, located at The Shoppes at Westlake. The Gallery is a casual, yet elegant restaurant that boasts specialty cocktails and a gourmet menu which will leave you feeling more than content.The Gallery Restaurant - Westlake - Shoppes at Westlake - bar - happy hour - LocalLove805 The Gallery Restaurant - Westlake …

Prologue: Grill Masters {Dinner Series @ Four Seasons Westlake Village}

Last Friday, Tanisha and I got to live out every pregnant woman’s dream, as we sampled and ate all things “grilled” at the monthly Prologue Dinner at Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village!

Luckily, we are no strangers to the Four Seasons Tasting Kitchen [see here, here, and here], and always love what Chef Jesse Hansen creates in his kitchen — we are sure he uses magic and sorcery, but we are 100{fd7f0a6624fbd2224f3c60e3404acbd2207eb416c38268e7e97265ebe361b912} cool with that.

Never heard of the Prologue Dinners?  Well, let us introduce you.

Ocean Views + BYOBooze {Malibu Seafood}

::: originally published August 28, 2015 :::

Okay, so, it was one of those Fridays when you just need a serious end-of-week decompression, so Brett and I set out for some ocean views and seafood.  As I was sitting in Friday PCH traffic ::blegh:: I started searching for a new spot with coastal views and a reasonable price range (sorry not sorry, Nobu).

Suddenly, I remembered Malibu Seafood — don’t ask me how, but I think it was a Divine intervention. I saw that it was BYOB (score!) so I pulled off at the Malibu Canyon Ralph’s, grabbed a sixer of Blue Moon Summer …

DIY Dinner Party on a Dime {Keep it Casual}

I love having dinner parties, both low-key and fancy — but, dietary restrictions and preferences often leave me scratching my head about what to make.

My favorite solution often includes something that can be customizable by each attendee, and given my current pregnancy cravings for Mexican food (okay, can’t blame it on the baby… I’m always craving Mexican food), I went with burrito bowls!

I recently did this for a group of college girls that I mentor — we had a little “goodbye” party before they headed their separate …

Best Kept Secret: The Old Place & Cornell Winery {Agoura Hills}

The Old Place is a tiny cabin tucked away in the canyon, which gives it that extra special, quiet mountain charm. You would never guess you were 20 miles from LA! Located off of Kanan and Mulholland, The Old Place is nestled in between Troutdale and Cornell Winery (which I’d say is pretty convenient). As soon as you pull up to it, you’d think you were in the old wild west — or at least how I imagine the old wild west 😉 Some guests even rode up on horses!
