Best of Dog-Friendly Trails, Parks & Beaches

It’s time for Work It Wednesday, and we’re including man’s best friend for today’s workout post 🙂

That’s right, we’re killing two birds with one stone today — not only will you get some fresh air and good exercise, but you can also bring your dog along too!

This is the perfect way to get your daily dose of pure 805 sunshine and exercise your pup (and yourself, of course) — we promise, both you and your furry friend will love the trails, parks, and beaches we’ve listed here!  And guess what (!?), our tax dollars pay for the maintenance anyways, so go get your money’s worth already!

Top 10 Favorite Local Beach & Lake Campgrounds

There’s nothing like the warm, summer nights to make you crave a good camping trip, or two 🙂 Who doesn’t love waking up in a tent, beach-side, to the crackling sound of fire pits and the delicious smell of bacon?? Plus, it’s my 30th birthday this weekend- and I mean, what better way to celebrate than by camping at the lake!?

There are so many campgrounds to choose from (which is another reason why we love the 805!), so today we are highlighting our top 10 favorite camp spots.

My Journey to 70.3 {Part 1}

Happy Work-It-Wednesday!  Ready to take your workout to the next level?  Everyone, give a warm welcome to our guest blogger and 805 resident, Jessica Rodriguez!  By day, she is a physical therapist and all-around wonderful person, but she recently added a new title to her long list of accolades: triathlete.  Check out her story, and follow along as she trains for a half-Ironman — and maybe, get involved yourself!

If you told me at the beginning of this year, that I would be training for a half-Ironman distance triathlon in December, …

How to ‘Wow’ Your Mom This Mother’s Day

Friendly PSA from your team here at LL805: Mother’s Day is almost here!

Let’s get down to brass tacks for a sec: your mom dealt with you all throughout the whiny years, still fed you even when you dissed her cooking, and you lived to tell about it {hey, let’s face it — you weren’t exactly a gem in high school}.  Your mom deserves a little extra love at LEAST one day per year!

Hiking Backbone Trail {local trails}

Happy Work-it-Wednesday! Natasha is here to share one of her favorite local trails and ways to keep in shape, hiking Backbone.

:::     :::     :::     :::     :::     :::

Is it just us, or are you stoked on 80 degrees in February? After Valentine’s Day and a little too much indulging, I was craving a complete body overhaul; physically and mentally.

As you may have noticed by now, hiking and biking are two of my favorite ways to get in shape and clear my head. It is the best way, in my opinion, to …

Cheeseboro Canyon {Local Trails}

My husband and I were looking for a new trail to hike with our dog Matix.  We decided to visit Cheeseboro/Palo Comado Canyon  in Old Agoura.  First off, this area of the 805 is so gorgeous! So many sprawling ranch homes with horses and hundreds of oak trees line the streets and hills.  My husband and I spent a few minutes driving around the neighborhood picking out our dream homes before parking at the entrance off of Cheseboro Road.

Once again– as most trails in this area are– Cheeseboro Canyon is great for a trail run, hike, mountain bike ride, or horseback ride.  We saw …

Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa: Local Parks and Trails {Newbury Park}

One of the great things about living in the 805 is the abundance of parks and hiking trails.  Even though I have lived in the area pretty much my entire life, I have only just recently discovered how many great areas there are to hike. It’s a little overwhelming to me, actually.  Last week we mentioned Hill Canyon in Camarillo and this week we are highlighting Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa Park in Newbury Park.

Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa in Newbury Park is home to a wealth of hiking, biking, and horse trails.  The main entrance is at the cross street of Via Goleta and Potrero Road and …

Hill Canyon: Local Park & Trails {Camarillo}

I’m often in Santa Rosa Valley, since my parents live there, but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered Hill Canyon (thanks to my mother!).

Hill Canyon is a beautiful park area offering picnic & BBQ amenities, panoramic views, bird watching, 2 equestrian riding areas, and plenty of biking & hiking trails. As you drive down Hill Canyon Road off of Santa Rosa Road, you will see a parking lot just before the bridge and fire road entrance.

If you head toward the bridge, it will take you first to some picnic tables sitting underneath the shady trees and alongside the creek. There’s also some trail maps and park info on the …
