Christmas Bucket List

Okay guys, it’s CHRISTMAS CRUNCH TIME: 5 more sleeps until Santa comes!

It is so easy to get bogged down by the stress of shopping + to-do lists + gifting + holiday hullabaloo, that sometimes we forget our favorite parts of the Christmas season.  These are usually the simple pleasures that stick out in our minds, flooding us with joy when we near this season next year.

In one last attempt to reign in some Christmas magic, we present (pun intended) to you our Christmas Season Bucket List, where we hope to spark some ideas for increasing tradition/nostalgia/excitement/hope/light in your lives!

Local Christmas Tree Farms {conejo valley + ventura county}

When do you get your Christmas tree?

The day after Thanksgiving (every year, without fail) my parents would load up the car with all four kids, a big blanket, and a huge roll of twine, and head to a local Christmas tree farm.  Once the first few notes of the Amy Grant Christmas album started playing, everyone knew it was officially Christmas tree time!img_9686img_9686

…alright, thanks …

Five Friday Faves {This Week’s Edition}

1. Every Fall, without fail, I get an intense urge to go to Paris.  Yup — just sell my worldly possessions, buy a one-way ticket, and live in the City of Light.

Since I don’t plan on doing that (yet), I should probably just head to Chocolatine French Café in Thousand Oaks for a crêpe and café au lait, take a chill pill, and pretend I’m sitting at a sidewalk cafe.

Chocolate Stir Spoons: Holiday Gifting {DIY}

When it comes to the holidays, it’s often overwhelming to think of how many people there are to buy for — especially if you work in an office with a ton of coworkers!

There are a ton of great DIY gifts floating around the cyber-verse (ahem, Pinterest), but here is one of my new favorite gifts that you can give to bosses, co-workers, administrative assistants, your mail carrier, your child’s teacher, and anyone else that unexpectedly gave you a gift but you awkwardly didn’t get them ANYTHING.

I made a grip of these chocolate stir spoons as a party favor for last year’s Fakesgiving event, and people …

This Week’s Edition {eat.shop.play.explore}

You guys…it’s the last weekend before Christmas.  I do not lie.  Did it come lightening fast for anyone else?!? I’m one of those people who counts down the days to Christmas– it definitely is my favorite time of year.  So now that it is almost here I am realizing all the things I have left to do/want to do.  I only decorated my tree with half the ornaments I usually do and I haven’t wrapped a single present yet. But you know what? Oh well!! No time for that (I think this has a lot to do with just having a baby and moving into a …

Westlake Village Trolley {local holidays + local resource}

{image via}

I feel almost a little too excited about this.

Did you know that Westlake Village (thanks to the generous support of Four Seasons Westlake, Westlake Village Inn, + Shoppes at Westlake) now has a Holly Jolly Trolley?!  Ok, maybe it’s not called exactly that… but that’s what I’m officially calling it now 😉

The trolley takes you to some great shopping and dining destinations during peak holiday shopping times on Fridays and Saturdays, from 3-10pm… fo FREE.  From City Hall, the trolley meanders through Westlake to destinations such as Shoppes at Westlake, …

This Week’s Edition {eat. shop. play. explore.}

{eat & drink.}

You guys have got to head to Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie in Agoura Hills — they have their new fall menu out! We love when restaurants change up their menus according to the season to feature fresh local ingredients.  We also love just about everything at Ladyface, including their amazing beer, beautiful patio, local wine selection, and their events, like live music and Ladies at Ladyface.

Fall in Love with November {local events}

Fall has to be my favorite season (I know, I know – every girl says that!).  But it’ really true.  I’m so happy that we are finally having cooler weather too. I’ve already pulled out my hunter boots and scarves and lit our fireplace a night or two.  It’s the BEST.

Fall is also a great time to get out and explore . There are so many festive events in the community: lots of holiday boutiques to jump start your holiday shopping and support great causes, wine tasting events, yoga classes and a plethora of marathons, half marathons, 10ks and 5ks! Fall’s a great time to get out and run since it’s finally under 80˚- which …
