Prologue: Grill Masters {Dinner Series @ Four Seasons Westlake Village}

Last Friday, Tanisha and I got to live out every pregnant woman’s dream, as we sampled and ate all things “grilled” at the monthly Prologue Dinner at Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village!

Luckily, we are no strangers to the Four Seasons Tasting Kitchen [see here, here, and here], and always love what Chef Jesse Hansen creates in his kitchen — we are sure he uses magic and sorcery, but we are 100{fd7f0a6624fbd2224f3c60e3404acbd2207eb416c38268e7e97265ebe361b912} cool with that.

Never heard of the Prologue Dinners?  Well, let us introduce you.

Can you guys believe it’s the last weekend in July already!? This summer is just flying by! Luckily there’s lots to do in the 805 this weekend to enjoy this last month of summer!

1. Zucchini Oat Greek Yogurt Muffins :: This weekend I made Running with Spoons‘ zucchini muffins {thanks to the abundance of zucchini growing in my mom’s garden} and Reese and I both loved them! Check out our post here for the healthy and delicious recipe!

Ocean Views + BYOBooze {Malibu Seafood}

::: originally published August 28, 2015 :::

Okay, so, it was one of those Fridays when you just need a serious end-of-week decompression, so Brett and I set out for some ocean views and seafood.  As I was sitting in Friday PCH traffic ::blegh:: I started searching for a new spot with coastal views and a reasonable price range (sorry not sorry, Nobu).

Suddenly, I remembered Malibu Seafood — don’t ask me how, but I think it was a Divine intervention. I saw that it was BYOB (score!) so I pulled off at the Malibu Canyon Ralph’s, grabbed a sixer of Blue Moon Summer …

A Budget-Friendly Romantic Date Night in Malibu Canyon {it does exist}

I know, I know — Saddle Peak Lodge is hardly aligning with our mission statement of “ballin’ on a budget” …or is it, actually?

IMG_9009

This is a place that I’ve always wanted to go [once my “money tree” started bearing fruit].  But, good news, guys — they’ve got HAPPY HOUR and a Supper Special!

Last year, Brett + I decided to have a late Valentine’s Day celebration.  We made resos on Open Table for 5pm, so we could make sure not to miss the sunset.  We both ordered from the Supper Menu, which is available on Mondays + Tuesdays …

A Scenic Hike to the Top of Lizard Rock {Thousand Oaks}

Over Memorial Day weekend, my mom and I hiked up to Lizard Rock for a scenic outdoor workout. We entered from Hill Canyon in Santa Rosa Valley (which we’ve posted on a few times now!), and you can also enter it from Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks.

From Hill Canyon, you can head up the switch backs to the left of the entry gate. Luckily, it was a cool day — and of course, the earlier you head out, the better.

Here’s a couple reasons why we love Lizard Rock/Hill Canyon & Wildwood Park:

1. 360 views of …

Best of… Cool Treats for a Hot Summer Day {local eats}

Anyone else feeling the summer heat? Don’t you worry because we’ve got a few of our favorite spots for a refreshing, cool treat in the Conejo Valley (plus, one from the Bu:)! Check them out below and please let us know if we missed your favorite!

1. SweetXO {Agoura Hills & TO Mall} ::  This adorable {and extensive!} fro-yo/macaroon/gift/clothing/baked goods/amazing one-stop shop pretty much blows my mind.  More toppings and flavors than you can wrap your fro-yo-loving head around.  You can even get your dessert with warm cobbler, candied pecans, pie, cookies, or brownies — whaaaat?!  I love to grab a large cup of Dole Whip (YES, …

Tunes & Tastings {Whizin Market Square}

Every Thursday from 4-8pm, the Whizin Market Square in Agoura Hills is hosting a Tunes & Tastings event featuring artisanal food pairings and performances from local musicians and artists.

We love the idea of exploring the Whizin Market Square’s different boutique shops while enjoying small bites and beverages made from fresh local ingredients!  It’s a great opportunity to try something new, as well as support local businesses and artists (which we are all about).

The shopping center’s restaurants will be offering happy hour specials as well.  For more info on these events check out their event page here.

The Perfect Date and a true Hidden Gem {local eats}

I know, I know. Topanga Canyon??? The valley? And the road is sooo windy. Well, hear me out. Inn of the Seventh Ray is one of the most quintessential restaurants I’ve been to in the area. It is the perfect venue for a special event, such as a Bridal or Baby Shower, and an idyllic spot for a romantic date. I’d say it’s definitely worth the trek.

My first visit to the Inn was for my sister-in-law’s Baby Sprinkle (it was her second baby, hence the sprinkle), and oh.my.gosh was I in heaven. It’s the cutest place in the most picturesque setting — tucked away in the …

Beachfront + Affordable Al Fresco Dining {Padaro Beach Grill}

This weekend, we went beach camping with Brett’s parents — they drove their vintage trailer on its “maiden voyage” from Tahoe, and will be spending a total of 14 days camping in various locations across the 805!

20160514_192915

We met up with them in Carpinteria, which immediately made me crave fish and chips from Padaro Beach Grill.  This preggo woman was appeased (thanks, guys!) and we decided to have dinner there Saturday night.

Guys, if you’re looking for your new favorite place, THIS IS IT.
