Butternut Squash Soup {DIY Recipe}

So I am by no means a great cook, but one thing I can make is butternut squash soup.  And I only say this because my husband told me so:)  Thanks to Pinterest (yes, I actually made something that I found on Pinterest!) I found this delicious recipe for butternut squash soup complete with bacon… because as we all know, bacon makes everything taste better. Duh.

This recipe is from good old Martha Stewart, so you know it’s amazing and — believe me — it is pretty easy to make! I have a new baby so I’m not spending …

Living in Southern California, you get a LOT of visitors. And living in Southern California, there’s a LOT to see and do. When you have visitors in town, it can be difficult to narrow it all down to just a few “must see” spots. We recently had Luke’s mom and sister in town from Wisconsin, and of course, high on their list of to-do’s was beach, wine tasting and shop.

So difficult to do in the 805, right?! HAHA not at all 🙂

Here’s a look at a few of our fave “go-to/must-see” local spots for out-of-towner guests:

First on the to-do list, beach.

10 Books On My Nightstand {2017 Reading List}

This year, one of my goals was to finally get to reading all those books I purchased from Amazon last year.  Thanks to my toddler and baby it’s been a bit difficult (#momlife), but I’m trying to be intentional about scrolling less and reading more.  So far I’ve started two books this year and have actually been making some progress (yay me!!!).

Here are 10 books that I am looking forward to reading {and I’ll be happy if I read half of them haha}:

Life With Two Under Two {local mom}

I’ve made it almost two months with two girls under the age of two {thanks to a lot of grace, an amazing husband, and a whole lot of coffee}.  And while I won’t be saying that that much longer since Reese turns two at the end of the month (cue the tears!), life is definitely not going to be getting easier anytime soon.  While it’s chaotic and messy and I’m in need of a shower (praise the Lord for dry shampoo), I wouldn’t change a thing. I feel so blessed to be the mama of two healthy, beautiful little girls.

We’ve been pretty lucky that …

Healthy Toddler (and adult!) Approved Zucchini Muffins

My mom’s garden is bursting at the seams with zucchini and yellow squash…like seriously — if you want some it’s yours.

So lately, I’ve been trying to find different recipes involving squash, and remembered how much I loved zucchini bread as a kid.  Of course I headed to Running With Spoons blog because a) I’ve made her stuff before and it’s always delicious, b) my baby (ok she’s a toddler now, but I just can’t stop calling her my baby yet) loves it too, and c) Her recipes are healthy and easy.

She had several recipes that called for zucchini, and I decided to …

A Weekend Recap {Insta-Good Moments}

This weekend felt pretty busy, anyone else? I think because we jumped the gun with a Cinco de Mayo celebration mid-week, so it felt much longer. Mother’s Day was a nice close to the weekend though. As mentioned, we started the weekend early with a little Cinco de Mayo celebration. We headed out to Cisco’s in Thousand Oaks for $3 tacos, huge Corona’s, sombreros and a Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn sighting (!!). No joke, they …

Spring is Here! {local lifestyle}

We don’t know about you, but we are loving this beautiful spring weather!!  And we’re especially lovin’ that everything is so green — wildflowers are blooming, thanks to the little bit of rain we’ve had these past couple of months (and hopefully we get more!).

To celebrate the first day of spring, we headed outdoors {OK, in our backyard} and played with Reese’s sand and water table. She had a BLAST splashing around and was soaked within a few minutes.  But that didn’t stop her from splashing around some more.
