Homemade Ventura {local shop}

We love to support small, local businesses, especially ones that make and sell things as adorable as Homemade Ventura.  Homemade Ventura was started by stay-at-home mom (of two toddlers no less!) Jessica Needham. She was born and raised in Ventura and was inspired by the laid back, small town vibe. She started creating macrame wall art using modern, but simple designs.  You can check out her beautiful macrame wall art on her etsy shop here.

Jessica will also be hosting a macrame holiday workshop at MadeWest Brewery in Ventura.  Join her on December 6th from 6-8pm and for just $60 a person you …

Pure Botanical Skin Care + A Giveaway! {Grateful Naturals}

In case you haven’t seen in pictures yet, my daughter is pale as pale can be with almost shocking red hair. I knew within a few days of her being born that she was going to have super sensitive skin and we were definitely going to have to invest in sunblock…and lots of it!

Luckily, my husband Mark (a graphic and web designer) was working on branding and website design for local mom Monica Mayer who was starting a pure botanical skin care line called …

Five Friday Faves :: This Week’s Edition

And just like ::that:: it’s pretty much AUGUST.  haaaWHAT?!  So much summer fun to squeeze into this last month — so, get to it!

1. The Closet {Westlake Promenade}

Last night we attended the grand opening of Nina and Sharon Segal’s newest branch of The Closet, a cray-cray adorrrrbs boutique that just opened in The Westlake Promenade.

Then, we decided that we needed to throw away everything in our closet and let them takeover our wardrobe. {kidding, kinda} 😉

The Local Getaway I’m Dreaming About {Summerland}

Now that spring is in full swing and Nicole and her husband just went to Santa Barbara for their anniversary trip, I am dreaming about my own little beach town getaway. Last year Mark (my husband) and I made a quick trip to Summerland, a cute little coastal town right off the 101 between Carpinteria and Montecito.  This town is home to some of the cutest boutique stores, yummy restaurants, antique shops and they even have a wine tasting room!

This Week’s Edition {eat. shop. play. explore.}

eat {and drink}.

Yesterday was National Tequila Day and today is Friday – I think that means it’s time to lay back and enjoy a delicious margarita (or two), right!?

Lucky for you, we recently made our own DIY pear and peach jalapeño margaritas – and they were delicious! Here’s the recipe we based our Peach Jalapeno Margarita off of, courtesy of Baking Addition, and then we made our own version of this with pears! Both were delicious and we highly suggest putting an umbrella in your drink — then you can really lay back 🙂

EAT.

Since it has been so warm and gorgeous outside, I’ve been craving SweetXO, an adorable {and extensive!} fro-yo/macaroon/gift/clothing/baked goods/amazing one-stop shop.  I love to grab a large cup of Dole Whip (YES I KNOW, they have it here!) and walk around for hours, looking at all of their fun items and super-cute clothing.  Join me, why don’t you!

{SweetXO is located at 5825 Kanan Rd, Agoura Hills and a new location in the Oaks Mall, right near the puppy store!}

So, I accidentally killed some pretty flowers I had in a planter in my backyard [apparently you have to actually water …

Sweet Treat: Tifa Gelato and Chocolate {Agoura Hills}

Although it doesn’t look like much from the outside, maybe that’s what has preserved this adorable spot, keeping it from being swarmed by the masses.  At least, that’s the only reason I can think of.

Specialty merchandise is displayed on antiqued armoires, while mismatched tables dot the seating area.  Grab a seat at the tall rustic wooden table for a little game of chess (or just fake it, because you know you’d just rather play checkers).
