Five Friday Faves [This Week’s Edition]

Oh hey, Friday!  Here’s what we’re crushing on this week…

1. Brown & Co Designs :: Tanisha and I had such an amazing time at the brush lettering workshop this week!  We learned so much, and the beer definitely helped us let our guard down while we practiced a new skill 😉  Plus, there were cupcakes and lots of fun, new people to meet — best night ever?  We think YES.

[p.s., in case you didn’t notice, her workshops sell out FAST, so check out her insta account @brownandcodesigns for details on how to register for …

How To: Put Together the Ultimate Charcuterie Plate {featuring Boutique Wine Club}

So… I have a confession.

I. LOVE. CHEESE.  Of all kinds. Unconditionally. Head over heels. Wanna marry it. Obsessed.  {Phew, thanks for listening. I feel so much better with that out in the open.}

But, a man cannot live on cheese alone [that’s how the saying goes, right?].  A perfectly-balanced cheese plate needs more than just, well, cheese.  This is when the fancy term “charcuterie” comes in.

Pro tip: it’s pronounced “shar-KOO-ter-ee” — now you can sound very French and sophisticated. You’re welcome.

We wanted to open a couple of special wines that we received from …

DIY Flower Mart Themed Baby Shower {DIY events}

As you may have seen on our Instagram feed, my sisters and I recently hosted a baby shower for our very own, Tanisha Kipling! She is having her baby girl #2 due October 7th — so soon! {PS if you haven’t already, check out her maternity photos here!}

We were fortunate enough to host the shower over a delicious brunch at Mediterraneo on the Westlake Village Inn property. We love their outdoor patios and of course, their food! It is the perfect setting for a shower, and any small gathering at that — plus, it’s conveniently located right next door to Stonehaus in case any guests want to continue …

How To: Host an Outdoor Movie Night (in your own backyard)

Being 7 months pregnant, my prime idea of a birthday party revolved less around nightlife options, and more around friends and food (#sorrynotsorry)!

I love going to outdoor movies [see my post here on how to do it right], but didn’t love the lineup or locations featured on my birthday weekend.  Obvi, that meant one thing: DIY time.

Thankfully I have a super-handy husband, who fashioned a movie screen out of some PVC pipe and a roll-down window shade from Home Depot!  This is such a great way to go, and made for some amazing picture quality.  Plus, it was waaaaay cheaper …

DIY Dinner Party on a Dime {Keep it Casual}

I love having dinner parties, both low-key and fancy — but, dietary restrictions and preferences often leave me scratching my head about what to make.

My favorite solution often includes something that can be customizable by each attendee, and given my current pregnancy cravings for Mexican food (okay, can’t blame it on the baby… I’m always craving Mexican food), I went with burrito bowls!

I recently did this for a group of college girls that I mentor — we had a little “goodbye” party before they headed their separate ways for the summer {p.s., I miss you guys!}.

Sign the Wine Guestbook & Gift {DIY}

A couple of years ago, I had the wonderful pleasure of being a bridesmaid to my BFF [and fellow LL805 blogger], Hayley.  There are so many fun details when it comes to planning weddings — some of which, include the parties and celebrations surrounding the big event.

At Hayley’s engagement party, I wanted something for the couple to have that would commemorate this celebration.  Also, I wanted it paired with a fun activity for the guests to do, while milling around the party.

Thus was born: Sign the Wine.
