This Hidden Gem of a Small Town Has it ALL {Los Alamos}

One of my favorite road trip pit stop discoveries is the little town of Los Alamos. It’s a true hidden gem. Nestled 50 miles north of Santa Barbara just off the 101, it offers history, charm and beauty. It’s located in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country amidst the agricultural farmland and hills of oak trees. And as you drive down the main street you immediately get a sense of the laid-back lifestyle and small town feel.You may remember Los Alamos from my post here, when I first discovered Casa Dumetz Wines – the most a-dorable wine tasting room. The wine owner, Sonya Magdevski, is so sweet too, it’s no surprise Casa Dumetz is such a success (and psst, Emilio Estevez is her partner – check out this THR article!). We loved it so much that we signed up as wine club members and now make sure to visit every time we drive by 🙂
This time around we found a few other spots to explore – first, Babi’s Beer Emporium and Craft Kitchen. First of all, the decor was absolutely adorable. Secondly, the menu was full of fresh homemade items, which made for perfect pairings with some delicious beer.Beer Emporium - wine tasting - los alamos - road trip pit stop - local getaway - locallove805wine tasting - los alamos - road trip pit stop - local getaway - locallove805beer emporium - wine tasting - los alamos - road trip pit stop - local getaway - locallove805We also explored the classic old western 1880 Union Hotel and Saloon. It’s safe to say that am obsessed with everything about it. They were setting up for a wedding in the back garden area and it looked be-aut-iful (I wish I would’ve taken some photos, but I had kind of snuck back there…;). wine tasting - los alamos - road trip pit stop - local getaway - locallove805As I’m sure you can tell, we had such a great time exploring Los Alamos on our way to Lake Nacimiento. I’m definitely coming back with my husband for a lil’ overnight getaway – and I’m totally convincing my little sister to get married there one day;)Lake Nacimiento - local getaway - local lake - LocalLove805After our stop in Los Alamos, we camped at Lake Nacimiento for some lakeside fun.  And don’t worry, it wasn’t as crazy as it looks here and the kids were really having a great time! {We had another boat with a few adults … and no crying children;)}
