This Week’s Edition {eat. shop. play. explore}

So there’s a lot going on in the 805 this weekend for Super Bowl Sunday (for all things Super Bowl be sure to check out our post from yesterday here).    I only really watch Super Bowl for the eating (so many yummy dips!), prop betting and commercial watching and this year we will be watching the game at our house with friends and BBQ-ing since it’s supposed to such a nice day! We’ve got not only Super Bowl events for you today, but lots of other fun stuff taking place this weekend!

This week has been Ladyface Ale Companie’s 5th Anniversary! Congrats you guys! If you have missed their celebrations so far, don’t worry there is more to come.  Tonight there will be live music starting at 8:45pm and Saturday night is their big Birthday Party Finale with more live music starting at 9pm.  So be sure to head over there and celebrate along with them! {As you can tell from the picture below we love Ladyface beer so much that we couldn’t even take a picture until our beers were almost gone!}

The Four Seasons Westlake Village is offering a special “East vs. West” menu at The Bar and the beautiful outdoor Lookout Lounge (and if you haven’t tried either of these places yet now is the perfect time to do so!).  This special menu will feature gourmet bar bites, $4.90 draft beers and $9 East Coast and West Coast cocktails.

I’m sure a lot of you have noticed the massive construction and remodeling going on at the Westlake Plaza on the corner of Westlake Blvd. and Agoura Road.  A lot of the stores, restaurants and shops have remained open and new ones are starting to open as well! We are really excited about this newly renovated center!

I can’t even begin to talk about all the great places here because the list is too long! I’ve been told that I need to try Sea Casa’s amazing mexican food, Sweet Arleen’s delicious cupcakes, get my hair beautified at Drybar and buy some super cute clothes at Sugar.  And in case you have heard, M. Frederic is opening a store there, two new workout studios are opening– The Sweat Shoppe and Core Power Yoga (definitely will have to try these out!!)– and we can’t wait to try out Mendocino Farms, Pressed Juicery, Pitfire Pizza and the Ice Cream Lab.  So exciting!

It’s going to be another beautiful weekend here in Southern California so why not head up to Santa Barbara for a day or even the weekend? January is a great time to head up there because hotels are usually discounted (compared to Spring and Summer rates) and the weather can be just as nice!   We love to bike to the beach, shop on State Street and eat and drink at the numerous restaurants and bars. And of course we can’t forget to mention all of the wine rooms, which make for a great afternoon of wine tasting Santa Barbara’s amazing wines.

While there you can stop by the Santa Barbara Public Market which will be continuing their “Live Well” health and wellness series on Saturday from 11am-3pm.  They will be offering a free Pop-Up yoga class, healthy food samplings and demos from local vendors!

Speaking of Santa Barbara, this week is the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. This festival takes place every year and lasts until February 7th this year.  While it can be pretty expensive to attend the film festival, they do have discounted tickets for those films showing after 10pm.  If you are a movie buff this is definitely something you might want to explore!

So if you’re watching the Super Bowl who are you rooting for?? I hope poor Tom Brady is recovered from his cold (which ESPN makes way too big of a deal about) and if Marshawn Lynch says “You know why I’m here” one more time I just might…I don’t know, nothing really, but it was super annoying {and yes I watch too much Sports Center thanks to my husband}.

And if you aren’t watching Super Bowl what are you up to?  Let us know by tagging us on instagram @locallove805 and #LL805.  Happy weekend!!!
