This Week’s Edition :: Five Friday Faves

Okay, so it’s not really “local,” but Hay and I are jet-setting to Vegas to see her majesty Britney Spears in concert!  side note: I would strongly consider Vegas as a ‘local getaway,’ since it is a relatively short drive there [but a somewhat painful drive back, yikes!], or easily accessible by a quick flight.  So for those of you staying in the 805, here are our Five Friday Favorites!

1. FitBallet

Plié, jeté, burpée… that, and SO much more, is what you get when you try FitBallet, which was created by 805 local, Julie Walsh.  She is a Harvard-law graduate-turned-fitness businesswoman, and is strong, hilaaarious, and smart as all get-out.  Her newest venture FitBallet is all the rage in NYC, and she hosted a Pop-Up class in Santa Monica yesterday morning [sorry that you missed it!].

This class was a swift battement right in the you-know-what — and, even though we can’t access her class on a weekly basis, you can get online personal training sessions here.  Also, I just had to get this tank top.  Anything for the sake of supporting young entrepreneurs, right?! Especially when they are from the 805!

BONUS: Julie is the writer that I dream to be — even if you aren’t doing FitBallet, you should read her blog.  Poignant, uplifting, and so, so funny.

2. The Melt {Westlake Village}

Thank you SO much to The Melt for a) inviting us to preview your delicious food, and b) for bringing a little more melted cheese into the community [I’m all for healthy stuff, but cheese is truly one of my callings in life].  Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post!  The Melt opens to the public on Monday, May 18 at The Promenade in Westlake Village.  Here’s a teaser:

3. Third Thursday {Stonehaus, Westlake Village}

Did you know that on the 3rd Thursday of every month, Stonehaus offers a wine and cheese pairing event?  We attended their bottle release party last night, featuring the products of the 2012 harvest: Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.  The grapes were grown right their on the property so you really can’t get more local than that! We had such a great time and we will give you a full low down on the event in a future blog post.

4. Stir {Four Seasons Westlake Village}

I know we mentioned Stir before, but you guys this place is going to be amazing and is opening next week on Tuesday May 19th! We love our coffee here at LL805 and are so excited about all the new local roasters as well as boutique coffee shops opening up.  Stir will be serving the delicious (and famous) Stumptown Coffee, a Portland based coffee roaster.  And you guys this is not just any coffee shop, but a state of the art coffee shop.  Stir is barista-less custom coffee experience and is one of the first places to implement this technology.  They will also serve fresh baked pastries and gourmet bites on-the-go.  And be sure to check out their contest on their facebook page where you can win great prizes, like free coffee for a year!!

5. Waypoint Cafe {Camarillo Airport}

If you haven’t tried Waypoint Cafe yet, you need to get yourself over there ASAP.  We love their breakfast and the family friendly atmosphere.  And of course watching the planes take off and land while enjoying their delicious food.  To find out why we love this place check out our blog post here.
