Luke and I decided to head to Ventura Harbor Village for a quick brunch getaway this weekend. We wanted to try something new and explore without the long drive, so Ventura was the perfect option. We pulled up around 10am on a Sunday and were pleased to find tons and tons of open parking spots. I think anyone who’s grown up near LA understands and appreciates free & convenient parking just like I do. No one likes to circle around in search of a spot, having to pay more than $1 for parking – or even worse, parking tickets. So already, our getaway was off to a great start!
Luke and I walked around the village to check out all the restaurant options before deciding on La Petit Cafe. La Petit Cafe is a quaint, French-country restaurant. Since it was such a lovely 805 spring day, Luke and I opted to sit outside on the adorable outdoor patio with waterfront harbor views.Luke ordered the Ham & Cheese Omelette with egg whites and potatoes on the side. I made my own omelette with tomatoes, spinach, onions, egg whites and their homemade chicken sausage (which is de-li-cious!) – plus fruit on the side. And on top of that, we got the choice of baguette, croissant or bread pudding! We went with the latter two. Plus coffee of course 🙂We enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and people watching from the patio. After breakfast we walked around the village, dreaming about owning a sail boat one day (hah! #iwish)…I even found a boat for sale! They offer all kinds of boat rentals too! We saw people kayaking and paddle-boarding, and rowers racing in the harbor. If you have anyone visiting from out of town, this would be a great place to take them. There’s so much to do and see! Look at the seals just basking in the sun! 🙂 We will definitely be coming back for happy hour — we’ve heard great things! All the restaurants offer awesome happy hour deals [you can find out more here!]
The beach is also conveniently located directly across from the (free!) parking lot. Luke and I walked over to check it out. It was a beautiful day, the only thing to note is there were signs saying it was a “no swim” beach due to the currents. So if you’re planning to swim, I’d recommend checking that out beforehand.
