How We’re Working It in 2015 {}

Are you already slacking on your New Years Resolution to really get in shape this year?  If that’s you (and don’t worry, I’m right there with ya) then this just might be the post for you.  I am one of those people who pretty much needs constant motivation to work out because lets face it, at this point in my life I’d much rather by cuddling with my new baby girl or napping.  But this year I am actually excited about all of the new/newish gyms, studios and workouts in the 805.

We are planning on checking a bunch of them out and of course we will let you know all of the details.  So here’s a list of a few we are really pumped about!

1. 3 Elements –– We’ve been wanting to try this gym in Thousand Oaks out for awhile now and finally we are scheduling our first class with them! 3 Elements is not just about working out, but it focuses on a lifestyle change combining fitness, nutrition and recovery.  They are all about getting you healthy and feeling great in a fun and supportive environment and we can’t wait to try them out!

2. Total Woman Gym & Spa – I know, I know this place opened while ago at the Shoppes at Westlake Village and I am behind the times, but I’m really looking forward to checking this place out.  This gym (for women only- sorry boys!) offers your typical gym equipment as well as group fitness classes, a full service Pilates studio and personal training. And oh yes did I mention there was a spa there? Definitely a plus! They are also offering free 3-day passes on their website so be sure to check them out if you haven’t already.

3. Studio Barre Again I’m behind the times…but this barre studio in Newbury Park is new to me so there.  I love barre classes so I know I will love this place.  Barre is such an effective workout without all the strain on your body.  Nicole visited Studio Barre for their grand opening, which you can read about here.  Oh and you need to follow them on instagram because they are always offering deals or hosting fun events. And they have Men & Margarita classes Friday nights (!). And they have an adorable little boutique store at the studio. So basically get there now.

4. The Studio  One of our good friends (and guest Work It Wednesday blogger) Nicole Hagy is an instructor here– as well as many other studios and gyms in the Ventura area.  We’ve seen all her hard work pay off and she is one of those toned women we aspire to be! One of the classes she teaches there is PiYo which combines Pilates and yoga with strength moves to tone and sculpt your body {yes please!}. 5. Fitness Movement – At the beginning of last year I started going to Fitness Movement in Oak Park and I loved it.  But then I got pregnant and working out just didn’t happen anymore (oops).  Now I am super excited to start going again- especially since Conejo Deals was just offering a deal for their new studio in Thousand Oaks! That’s right, they just opened their second location! Fitness Movement offers Lagree Method Pilates (man does it burn so good) as well as other traditional classes such as cycling, TRX and yoga.  They also offer trampoline classes, which sounds like something I might injure myself in, but I’ve seen people take that class and let me tell you it looks hard.

6. Drenched Fitness Now to be honest, I hadn’t heard of this place, but my sister is all about it because she heard Britney Spears works out here.  Seriously.  Nicole tried it out a few years back when it first opened, and she says it definitely lives up to its name — you come out completely drenched in sweat.  Drenched Fitness in Westlake Village is definitely one of the gyms that I want to try out this year.  They focus on fitness, nutrition and community and they also offer their own private brand ready-to-eat meals.  A typical class is 60 minutes combining treadmill training and strength training.  Bonus: They are also offering your first week free on their website!

7. Malibu Wines Yoga & Mimosas –– Now that just sounds like a great combination doesn’t it?  Malibu Wines Tasting Room has been offering yoga & mimosa classes for awhile now, but due to pregnancy and what not, I haven’t been able to attend a class yet.  Now that the baby is here I’m looking forward to some relaxing yoga in beautiful Malibu Canyon and a delicious post workout mimosa!
